help

Is there a different way to see if ur baby has down syndrome instead of a huge needle getting shoved threw ur tummy ?

They have a blood test that they can test the chromosomes with, and then if they feel your baby is at risk, they can do the amniocentesis. It's very risky though and can cause miscarriages. Plus, the Down syndrome test is wrong a lot of the time. I'd just pass on it, honestly. I did.

Well they do the blood test which is in the arm then if you're at risk then they schedule you for the amniocentesis which is the huge needle. But I wouldn't risk it. Its not a safe procedure. Its not like knowing for an absolute fact your baby has down syndrome will change anything. You won't prepare any differently for baby. So I would opt out of doing it.

There is a quad screen blood test (done in uk if you are at risk) and the ultrasound to check the NT measurements . Other than that its the needle im afraid . Hope everything is ok x

yea when the doctor schedules you for an ultrasound and when the baby is born you will know . good luck

Did you already do the 12w scan or the 20w scan to test for genetic disorders?
