high hcg levels and no fetal pole.

My boyfriend and I have been trying to get pregnant. my last period was October 9th. From a website I found I should have ovulated on the 23. I took a pregnancy test on November 3rd and it was positive. I went to the doctor on the 5th and they couldn't see anything, so they sent me for blood work. My first hcg level was on November 5th which read 410. I had one 2 days later on the 9th which read 1409 then the following monday which was 3509.  I went back to the doctor and they did another ultra sound. they saw a gestational sac with a little white dot in the top corner. So I was told to come back the following week. I went in this past monday and had another ultra sound. All they could see this time was a Gestational sac with a yolk sac but no fetal pole. I went and had another ultra sound to rule out ectopic pregnancy, which all was well. No problems there. But I was told to have some more blood work done and the results are freaking me out. They were 27,219. Is this extremely high for no fetal pole???  The doctors are thinking I'm around 5 weeks. I'm just frazzled, if anyone can shed some light on this situation it would really help me out. Every one thinks I'm having twins. but it's hard to get my hopes up with a hcg level that high and no fetal pole.

Any similar stories or situations would really help.

i dont know what where my hcg levels exactly at 6 weeks but it must have been high because at 6 weeks 5 days my HCG levels where at 52,296, and at my 6 week ultrasound there was no fetal pole or heartbeat, so i dont think it was to high.

Too early. At 6 weeks my levels were like 64000 or so and we didn't see the heartrate until 6w3d. At a 5w6d ultrasound we hadn't seen it so a lot can change in a couple of days during early pregnancy. Also, it doesn't really matter what your levels are (if they are low or high) but rather that they are doubling every 48-72 hours. Just give it a couple days and I'm sure you'll see the heart just beating a way.

i had my lmp on 3/6/2010, on 4/19/2010 i had my blood work done and the results read 12,000 which confirmed pregnancy. on 4/28/2010 i was sent in for usound and bloodwork, my bloodwork results were 41,000 but all they could see was a ges.sac and a yolk sac with no fetal pole or heartbeat but they did measure me to be 6w1d give or take afew adays. so i would like to know can this be to early to see a fetal pole or heart beat. really nervous. please help and pray everything is ok.

I wouldn't worry. My HCG level was 11,728 at 5 weeks 2 days.  All my doctor could see on the ultrasound was a gestational sack and SMALL yolk sack.  I had to go back two weeks later for another ultrasound and then we saw the baby with a strong heartbeat. I was worried when my levels were that high and we didn't see more, but everything was ok. I am only having one baby and I am now 16 weeks. Have they scheduled you for another ultrasound in a week or two?

The fetal pole usually develops in the 6th week.  During that timeframe, you hcg levels could be anywhere from 1080 to 56,500.  They should be able to see the fetal pole in the next week.
