It's not bad to hold on to hope. The best way to prepare is usually hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Based on everything you've posted, as well as all the dates, you're measuring at least 2 weeks behind what you should if not more. Anything you're confused about, never hesitate to ask. There are no stupid questions.

If you are 5W4D like your US says then it is not uncommon to now see a heartbeat yet. Many women will see one around 6W and for other it can take another week or two to see a heartbeat. As far as the bleeding you always want to consult with a Dr. about it, especially if you are cramping or passing clots or tissue since this is a sign of MC. I went through a similar experience and I would say at this point take care of yourself and take your pre-natals and wait it out. I went back every week for an U/S and that really helped to see what was going on. You need to be able to see growth and of course you would need to see a HB in the next couple of weeks and time is required for both of those things. Try not to stress and if you don't feel comfortable with your Dr. then find another and definatly make sure you feel comfortable with any decision such as if a D&C gets brought up. Good Luck and I hope you see a heartbeat really soon so you can relax.

I would seek another opinion.  Without testing ur levels there is no way to say for sure of its a m/c.  Also an ultrasound as early as u r wont show anything anyway!  You would need another in a week or two to see.  Sometimes bleeding in early pregnancy is normal for some people.  I had bleeding from 6 to 15 weeks and had s healthy baby boy!    Good luck.

"the first set of blood work i was only 2 weeks pregnant and it barely went up."

I want to clarify the way you are dating the pregnancy.  When you say "2 weeks pregnant" do you mean 2 weeks after you conceived?  2 weeks pregnant (in medical terms) is ~the date of conception so pregnancy would not be detected at that point.

When do you think you conceived and how far along should you be?

Heartbeat.

It's too early at this point to call it a miscarriage. You need to have a repeat ultrasound done in a week or two to find out better what is going on. At 2 weeks of pregnancy, there is nothing to measure as a female is not then pregnant so that's why your hormone levels didn't do anything. The soonest you can detect pregnancy is 3 weeks along. When you speak to your new doctor, request a beta blood test and find out how your levels go.

HB is heartbeat, sorry we use a lot of acronyms. I can relate to exactly what you are going through and I can say it is REALLY tough. You have to wait it out and give it time because you have to give time for the baby to grow! Time will let you know what is happening, I went through a long process and unfortunatly it was a non-viable pregnancy and I had a D&C, but when I did make that decision it was because I had given plenty of time for baby to develop and tracked with many U/S to be sure. There are a lot of women who go through what you are going through and it is never easy. It would almost be better if they didn't give an U/S until a women was 8 weeks just so women don't hear that something is wrong when reality is they are too early to show anything. Just know that time will pass and you will get your answers. Good Luck!

So based on conception (November 19th) you would now be around 7 weeks pregnant. When was your LMP?

If you conceived on ~ 11/19 then you would be ~7.5 weeks pregnant today (pregnancy is dated by adding 2 weeks to date of conception which, for most women is the same thing as dating based on LMP).

A fetal pole and heartbeat should be present if you are 7.5 weeks along.

The fact you are measuring 2 weeks behind and have been bleeding is not a very good sign.

In pregnancy language you'd be 7 weeks 4 days, if you conceived on November 19th. They date you from the first day of your last menstrual period (lmp) so you're actually medically pregnant befor conception, they count day 1 of your period as the first day of your pregnancy. So you're actually almost 8 weeks, I would think they would have seen something on the ultrasound, at 6 weeks (4 weeks after conception for me) they saw a itty bitty fetus, fetal pole and all that in the sac in my uterus. I've heard of women who do have to wait a bit longer, so you might get that second opinion in a week or two and then you'd know for sure.

why would you add two weeks? that doesnt make very much sense. if its only had 5 weeks to grow how can it be expected to look like 7 weeks? i dont understand that and ive never heard that

Last menstrual period. Pregnancy is not dated from when you had sex, it's dated from when your last period is.

The reason being is that before doctors had the stuff they do now, ovulation was extremely difficult to detect. All women ovulate at different times, but a period is pretty fool proof. So they use LMP because that's a well known date. Because most women will ovulate 2 weeks BEFORE her next period is due, two weeks are added on. So when you are 6 weeks pregnant, the fetus only measures at 4 weeks.

It's not literally expected to look like a 7-week old embryo, it's expected to be at the point of development of a 5-week old embryo, which your doctors understand and is what both they and we are saying. At 7 weeks an embryo should look like an embryo looks 5 weeks after conception (week 7 of the pregnancy), because they date you from your LMP.  I'm 15 weeks now, but my baby was conceived 13 weeks ago, and my doctor is happy because the baby is developing correctly for this stage of the pregnancy. I know it's somewhat confusing, but it's just the way it works.

The concern with your situation is that the development seems to be behind...that's why soon you should know for sure.

Do you know what the first day your period started was on?

Did they give you a due date? You can figure it out by working backwards.

No, because there's nothing there to cause the hCG hormone. This is only released when the egg has implanted. How long are your cycles usually? If your cycles are usually 6 days long, that means it would have started on October 27th. Using that, you would be almost 9 weeks pregnant. Overall, it's not look too positive for you to be measuring that far behind.
