I'm not sure if you can get the baby's weight up 100% by birth, but I've heard if you increase your nutrition it can help (of course quitting smoking wouldn't hurt, if it's going to stress you out terribly that might not be the best option for you, try cutting back then quitting) Have you talked to your doctor about it, and ways to help? I would definitely start by cutting back smoking if you haven't yet, and then go from there with quitting. You've stopped and started a few times this pregnancy, that might be something to ask your doctor if that's playing a roll in the IUGR? I hope everything works out for you hun!!
Yea there is always a chance! Due to the baby geowing more rapidly in these last few weeks. Gl
Quitting won't hurt so I'd say quit if there's any chance it could help the baby you should stop. Have will power to stop deployments are hard but its a life we chose and we have to be strong for our kids well being no matter what.
I also think (of course no one knows your situation or the stress in your life but you!) you should quit for good, and not start back up after the baby's here, do it for yourself, you're young and have a whole life ahead of you, you don't want to be getting sick with a little one, or leaving your child early, You can do it!!
It is possible. Most weight gain occurs at this point because baby is packing on fat to help regulate hisbody temp after birth!
My midwife is very old therefore old fashioned and she just made me feel even worse when talking about smoking... she said I need to quit now which I am 100% aware of. Im not really the type to get stressed without a cig its more of a habit because I have been smoking since I was 14:/ bad I know but thats 5 years of smoking...the nicotine I really could live without its the habit of actually smoking that im having the most trouble with... I just feel so guilty like I haven't given my son what he deserves
Ktowne I want to quit for good because I dont wantmy son around it
There's more causes to IUGR than just smoking, of course that may have played a role, but it's not fair to make you feel terrible about it, what about the women that have a baby with it that DON'T smoke? It can happen to anyone. I would make sure you let her know you KNOW it's not the best thing to do, but it's done and over, and she needs to not make you feel bad about it! You're doing the best you can, that's a stressful situation, and I highly doubt she can say she's went through it. The last trimester is when the baby packs on the most weight, so quit, eat very healthy, and I'm sure your little one will pack on some pounds!
Even if she hadn't said anything to me i would still blame myself, but this was my own selfishness and now I have to deal with the consequences wether I caused it or not all I can do now is try harder im all my son has and he deserves the best start:) I do need to start eating healthier tho n hopefully that will help! Thanks ladies and thanks for not making me feel worse I appreciate it
grpwth restriction how far behind is he?
You hold your head and do the best you can do
I'm a former smoker & it's hard to just quit, especially when it's the smoking routine (lighting, holding, inhaling, flicking, etc) that you're hooked on, in addition to the nicotine itself. I've been there, not while pregnant but i understand. To some people my suggestion might sound outrageous, but have you considered hypnotism??? That, in combination with a low dose patch & determination-- I know you have a good shot at being smoke free!!! It'll be 5 years smoke free for me in February & it was the best decision i ever made. Being smoke free is freedom! GOOD LUCK
I go for another growth scan on Wednesday to see if he has progressed but as of Halloween he was inthe 14th percentile, below the tenth is when they are diagnosed with iugr is what my doctor told me
Pmaried no I never even really heard about hypnotism
Miley its intrauterine growth restriction
I know YOUTUBE had some suggestive hypnotism videos for addictions & such.. some counseling offices might even have someone.. i know it's a reach..
If I cant do it on my own thats definitely something I will look into thanks!
you can do it!!! i believe in you!!!
quitting is the best for you and your little one. find a new way to deal stress and say goodbye to smoking for good. your future self will thank you for it!
Thanks!:) ive thought about using jolly ranchers and always having one in my mouth cause ive never been able to smoke if there's something in there I just dont wanna rot my teeth lol
Everything looks great on him miley hes just on the smaller end of the scale, but we wont know for sure til hes born
you could try sugar free gum too if that helps. stay strong, think of your little one and i'm sure that'll give you the courage to say no to smoking.
Im like a little kid with gum! Im terrible I always end up swallowing it haha but its worth a shot!
