I know it's hard, I was so worried when the found the one on my baby but all turned out well. Since you had no other markers for DS then things are most likely going to be just fine.
i have just read aswell that if there was a baby with downs syndrome there would be no fluid or somethink at the back of the neck which mine was okay.
im just trying to reassure myself here
thanks for your help!!!
Honestly I would try not to worry, if you research choroid plexus cysts they almost always resolve themselves as I said. It's a very small percentage (from what I can remember) that don't or that cause other problems. I know it's hard not to worry, but before you drive yourself crazy with worry, try to relax and wait until the 26 week scan and see what is seen then.
Check out these links:
http://www.obfocus.com/high-risk/birthdefects/choroidplexus.htm
http://downsyndrome.about.com/od/whatcausesdownsyndrome/a/USCPC_ro.htm
that second link puts the risk of downs sydnrome at less than 1% if there is a only a single choroid plexus cyst found and there are no other soft markers for DS found.
the consultant i seen told me that she shudnt of said anything unless there was more than one cyst,
yes it was a choroid plexus cyst that was found.
i have another scan booked in for 26 weeks. but obviously im still very anxious and worried sick trying to find out what the chances are.
yes she said that cysts on the brain can mean downs syndrome.
thanks
Your tech was an insensitive moron. But did they say it was a CHOROID plexus cyst? My youngest daughter had on at my 20 week scan with her. The doc told me they were fairly common and almost always resolve themselves. I freaked out, researched all I could, which pretty much said what he told me. By the my 32 week scan it was nowhere to be found. She is now a perfectly healthy 6 1/2 year old. I've never heard of a plexus cyst being a sign of DS.
