I have set up a appointment with a new doctors office and my first appointment is with a midwife, so I am hoping she understands what I am going through and why I decided to try it, I have endometriosis as well and it was really getting bad the last couple of months and read that the cream can help> i really did not think I was going to get my positive this month, I was even going to have a surgery again to have the endo removed next month, I figured I would give it one more month and BAM i got my BFP.
so I hope they do not frown down at me. But now I know I cannot stop using the cream, i read that it could have a bad effect on a early pregnancy, I just them to give me something I can buy via insurance.
Progesterone is thought to help some women, for others it won't matter if the pregnancy isn't viable to begin with.
I've had 2 miscarriages and the reason for my 2nd was low progesterone. So I demanded I be on it this pregnancy because I am the one paying for it. I can proudly say that I'm 13 weeks pregnant, our baby has a heartbeat, and I stopped the progesterone almost 2 weeks ago.
I don't see why your doctor would refuse. They get paid when prescriptions are filled in their name and it's your money that you're spending. It can't hurt to try! It gave me peace of mind and I hope it can do the same for you.
You MUST stop taking progesterone by week 10-12 though. You shouldn't need it longer than that.
I've been through 2 miscarriages, unexplained, but I didn't want any testing unless it kept happening. My midwife (I switched after the 2 miscarriages) told me to take progesterone cream 2 or 3 times a day (I cannot remember right now) until I was between 15-20 weeks along. She said the cream is not as effective as a pill or suppository, so it would be just fine. My levels were always great with my son and I had no problems during that pregnancy. I am pregnant again and I haven't taken anything, and I am just about 16 weeks and everything with baby is great! I would definitely tell your doc you are doing that and if you are not comfortable with what your doc is telling you, maybe you could consider switching to someone else? Or at least get a second opinion? I feel like my midwife now is much more helpful than the first midwife I was seeing. Good luck!
well i had to MC is one year, my doctor did the testing and my prog was fine and all otehr testing came back normal, so there was not reasoning behind the MC's. my RE doctor did put me on a baby aspriin once a day and progesterone supps 2 times a day until my 13th week and then i was to stop both. i hope this helps. i really think you should tell your doctor and talk to him about it though.
