It's safe in moderation as long as it's cooked:) if you want to be extra safe, research what types of fish have the lowest levels of mercury.
I LOVE sushi-- before I was pregnant I never drank or smoked or even drank coffee so the only thing I had to give up was my sushi lol
My midwife said that fish is fine as long as its from a recognised source (i.e. tesco, not off a market for example) and in moderation. She said the only thing i should worry about is liver patte, but i dont like that anyway
Aww thank you ladies:) I'll be careful by moderating my intake.
Also, Salmon is a very good source of protein I was encouraged to eat that and chicken (not fried) haha.
In moderation. What you have to be worried about is mercury levels, and make sure its well cooked.. I stay away from anything that once had a shell, or still does. Which I know! Its all my favorite too. :( but shellfish have high mercury. And if you're into sushi like I am stick to salad rolls and California rolls. Or anything cooked, or not containing fish. (Imitation crab meat and such is fine) but double check with your OB or midwife. This is just the information my doctor gave me after bringing up my concern.
Some seafoods aren't too safe. You should Google this question 'what seafoods are safe during pregnancy'.
Its fine to eat seafood in monderation. Like you really shouldnt eat seafood every single day. I love seafood too and I've limited myself to only once a week.
