sleeping in bouncy

So Cole is 3 months old now, and pretty much the only way to get him to sleep is to rock him in his bouncy, but when I go to take him out and put him in bed he wakes up and i gotta redo the cycle over again. so my question is, is it safe for him to sleep in his bouncy, he only sleeps in it for maybe 3 hours at the most.  I think about it alot, but its the only way he will sleep.  Any suggestions?

Oop i want to second what mami said...the bassinet was a better choice for both of my babies because they didn't feel so exposed. and the co-sleepers are WONDERFUL too, and it really is easy to move from that into a crib because they're sleeping in the same position as opposed to the bouncy...so at night you could consider that until you can break the bouncy habit lol.

unfortunately Cassandra usually babies that fixate on one thing won't accept a substitution...and a rocking cradle is a VERY different feeling from a bouncy chair, especially if it vibrates...that used to help my daughter's gas SO much and she loved her bouncy as a result.

good luck Ammanda I'm sure he'll be in his crib before you know it and you'll be standing in the living room vaccuuming one day and be thinking "I wish he was napping out here I miss him" LOL because i totally did that with kahlan...struggled SO hard to get her napping in her crib and then i missed having her out with me while i did chores.

Do you have a crib or a bassinet?  My son felt very overwhelmed in the crib because it was such an open space and he was so small.  So I got a co-sleeper and put it next to my bed and so he wound up staying in there for awhile and I would have my hand on him and just the comfort made him sleep.  It was an easy transition to the crib after that.

True true... just an idea haha...
erm... you can get a rocking crib untill Cole sits up... You rock it yourself.. like a swing at the park.

He's too young to understand those types of things.  That's more for toddlers.  At 3 months, like Ashelen said, you can leave him in there for nap times.  I had a rocker where it laid flat and rocked back and forth.  I forgot the name of it.  But it would rock back and forth or side to side and we left him in there for his naps.  After a while you can attempt to put him in the crib because they do eventually outgrow these bouncy seats.

Mine has a temper, aint even born yet...
With my brother (he is a bit older) but when we put him in a big boys bed... he wouldnt sleep, We tell him a story, and say good night and we will be back (Cole wont understand) and make sure you go back.
But with Cole you could read him a story and sit on his bedroom floor next to the cot... and every 2 weeks move the pillow further and further away from him untill you are out the door... (It might work, its for a little bit older than 3 months but you can try it).
But even though he is only little when you move the pillow, make it a game like thing with Cole, and say 'mummy is moving her SLEEPY PILLOW' call it the sleepy pillow or bedtime pillow... :)

Try wrapping him up like a burrito and prop him on his side with a blanket on each side so he can't roll.  During the day you can lay him on his belly and let him nap, just check on him.  My last one slept on his belly as soon as he could turn his head from side to side.  It was the only way for him to nap during the day, then as he got older he slept like that at night too.  Good luck.  It does get easier.  Also try letting him fall asleep on his own, I learned with my 2nd that was the best way to go.  Hope this helps a little or least a try :)

ermm, untill he sits up you are able to use a rocking crib that rocks obviously. I have one.. although I dont have a baby yet...
Have you tried in his bedroom have a little light show thing that projects on his celing?

I'm not sure but maybe your son just doesn't like to lie flat? Does he have reflux? He might be a good candidate for the wedge. Just a thought. My sister used one that had a belt and two bumpers on the side for her little one. It helped a lot with the reflux and she started sleeping through the night.

If you are trying to get him for a long sleep.. rock him in his bouncy and leave him for half an hour to an hour so he is asleep asleep then put him into bed, I had the same with my brother..

I agree with Ivy (Ashelen) - for short naps, I'd think it would be ok, but not for nighttime sleeping.  Neither one of my boys liked the bouncy chair and certainly not for sleeping, so it's great that that works for you :-)

i wanted to add that when Kahlan was little I did research and most bouncers are designed to be safe napping places as long as they're not used for long periods.

i used to let kahlan take small naps in her bouncy seat...it's not the best thing in the world but it's actually fairly safe as long as it's a firm surface, lightly inclined..securely fastened...and they're not being curled up in a position where the chin is pressed too tightly to the chest it should be okay for small periods (less than 4 hours at a time) i wouldn't let him sleep there at night...but little naps I would say are ok.

I never had an issue with my son sleeping in his bouncy seat or swing.  Now is this a bouncy seat or is it one of those jumpers?
