It doesn't necessary have to be after your missed period. I took a hpt 9 days before my missed period, then another.... Then another. All positive within 20 seconds. I knew at least 5 days prior to that but I thought I just needed to wait to take the test because it would've been impossible to actually know. I'm 19 weeks today with a healthy baby boy :)

I knew pretty much as soon as I became pregnant. When you know your body you know. Lol. Now as for medically or by a hpt a pregnancy won't show up until your missed period.

It's impossible to have symptoms the day you have sex for a variety of reasons. The main is that implantation hasn't occurred yet and doesn't occur in a day. It takes anywhere from 6-12 days after ovulation for implantation to happen. It's the hCG hormone that causes symptoms, and this isn't present till implantation has occurred. You're likely just coming down with a virus.
