Oh my, oh my, I  remember those days...It hurt so much when the baby latched, that I sometimes cried..
The pedi checked him, he said no thrush, my ob cheked me, he said the same, and so sis the LC...I tried everything...
I used lanolin to soothe my nipples, nothing!  I even got a blocked duct and that hurt much more, and gave me a high fever...I started to give up.
My baby did not have any signs at all, and still I wasnt feeling better, so I with the LC to try the thrush treatment,  and after 3 days I started  feeling so much better!
My boy is 5 months today and Im still brestfeeding him now, so my advice is to call your LC if you still feel sore so thet she observes the way he latches, your nipples, etc...
Hang in there and dont give up...at the end it is soo worth it! HUGS!

your LC most likely would have seen signs of thrush. Still, it can't hurt to contact your OB.
Hope you feel better :/

I would contact your OB, you want to get it taken care of so your baby doesn't get it in his mouth, I have seen babies with thrush in their mouth and it is not fun :( I hope BFing gets better for you!!

That happens when you have been taking antibiotics because antibiotics kill most of the bacteria in your body (including the good ones) and then fungus or yeast grows on mucus membranes.  So that's why many women get vaginal yeast infections after they take antibiotics.
I guess that lactating nipples could be considered a mucus membrane? I don't know but it does secrete bodily fluids so it could be possible.

My advice on yeast infections (which works on your entire body) is to take AZO Yeast tablets (AZO is an AWESOME BRAND!!! I love it)  then avoid sweets as much as possible and along with the AZO Yeast, eat yogurt throughout the day.  or take Yogurt capsules.  That should re-balance your body is good bacteria.

Aside from that, I don't know what else could be causing the pain while nursing, but I think that post labor your nipples and areolas go through another change because of the suction and they change/stretch, etc.  Warm compresses...I don't know I haven't started bf yet.  I hope it goes away soon.
