too early to say

I'm just wondering if anyone has every been in a similar situation I've been in. My husband and I starting trying to get pregnant, I went off the pill about 3mos ago. For 3 months, I had regular periods (including my last one that ended last sunday) Although this last one was much lighter than usual. Monday I started feeling sick/nauseated and figured it was because I started taking the pill again (only took it for 2days). I then decide to take a pregnancy test and have had a total of 4+ tests. Go the the Dr, the test is negative. They do an ultrasound, pelvic and see nothing! So now I have to go and have blood drawn next week. I'm so confused and don't know what to think!

It could be too early for their tests in the office and too early to see anything with an ultrasound.  Normally they say they can't see anything by ultrasound until your hcg levels are at least about 1000 but better after 2000.  So I would wait to see what the blood work shows.  Good luck.

Several options:

1) you are pregnant and the test at the doctors office didnt pick it up due to a different sensitivity.

2) you were pregnant but its a chemical pregnancy (meaning your HCG numbers have dropped and the pregnancy is not viable)

3) you had false positive test results (can happen if you read the tests outside the recommended time, for example)

If you are very early on into a pregnancy a abdominal ultrasound would not detect much at all.  The blood work is the best course of action and will give some answers.

If it's early enough a pelvic exam wouldn't pick anything up. The doctors urine tests are also not as sensitive as some of the other tests on the market. I had a pelvic ultrasound done at 7 weeks and we couldn't see anything as well. Only through a vaginal exam they found the embryo. Wait until they do the blood test. They're generally pretty accurate.
