Don't buy Unisom, its $8 a box, go to walmart and get their brand, its the same thing (50 mg's) and only $4.25
thanks i will try the unisom i hope that helps i am sure it will i don't usually like to take anything to help me sleep but i don't think i have slept the past 2 days and i have two other kids to take care of right now and i am gonna have to deal with lack of sleep once this baby is born so i might as well get as much as i can now especially since i am so tired during the day i hardly have the energy to care for my other children.
Mary345 If you look online products with Diphenhydramine are safe. Altho, if it's just sleep your looking for I'd suggest UNISOM. It's only Diphenhydramine or Diphenhydranate.. both are formulas of benadryl.
COMPLETELY SAFE. I am %100 positive that they're safe becasue it's on the SHORT list of med's my OB ok'd for me. (he ok'd, tylenol, and Robutussin(just robutussin regular nothing else) as well as Benadryl products for help sleeping.)
So there's nothing wrong with it. Look it up on google if you need to. just type in "Is Unisom safe during pregnancy?"
I myself take between 50-100mg of Unisom a night to sleep. it's a bit more than the 25-50mg reccommended doseage but i've always had a high tolerance.
And the baby will be fine, as long as you don't take it 24hr's Before giving birth.. so no issues, the only reason they say it'll depress the baby is AFTER it's born is all.. before it's born it may get sleepy a little but it's still safe.
yes you can because you can take tylenol and Benadryl which is what it is made of.
YES you can take Tylenol PM...I just had my first Prenatal Appointment today with my doctor and we went over ALL the medications I can take and Tylenol PM is okay as well as Tylenol Cold.
Good Luck, Feel Better!
The active ingredient in Tylenol PM for the sleep aid portion is Diphenhydramine, which is also the active ingredient in Benadryl. I will PM you a web address for a "safe" medications during pregnancy chart I found.
I would still check with your doctor just to make sure it is right for you.
I am almost positive you cannot, for the simple reason that the sleeping aid will also affect the baby... not just you. Sorry for your lack of sleep
My doc told me it was safe. I asked because I have been dealing with RLS and my grandma said it helps hers. It helps mine also! I am able to get to sleep MUCH easier than before.
