...vacation! :)

I am on vacation, and horse back riding, canoeing, and boating are all things that we can do. My family wants to do them all but I was worried that I couldn't because I'm five weeks pregnant, what do you all think?

I was riding several weeks into my third trimester and my daughter is perfectly fine. With my first I rode up to about 6 months and that daughter is also fine. Of course, I never fell off while pregnant. The riding itself will not hurt you or your baby; it's the sudden shock of hitting the ground that can cause problems.

Horseback riding always has inherent risks. But "tourist" horses you are likely to encounter on vacation are about as safe as it gets.

The saying is, "You can't shake a good egg loose."  You could jump on a pogo stick every day and not lose a viable pregnancy.  (Ladies before the last century rode horses all the time and the human race did not die out because they all had miscarriages.)

On the other hand, one in five (some research says the number is as high as one in three) early pregnancies end in miscarriage.  Not because of the mother's activities, but because something was missing when sperm met egg, and sooner or later that thing was needed and the pregnancy faded.  If that were - God forbid!!! to happen to you, you would never want to look back and chastize yourself that if only you had not ridden horseback, the pregnancy would have remained fine.  If there is any chance you would blame yourself in the (unlooked-for) chance that you were to fall victim to the odds of early miscarriage, don't do the thing you're nervous about.
