Do you eat fish?

Is it true that eating cooked  or raw fish is a big no no when pregnant?

I admit, I don't follow ALL of those "don't eat" guidelines. A lot of them seem a bit paranoid to me because the foods "could contain harmful bacteria or parasites". So I've researched the reasons WHY things are on that list before I've decided whether to eat them or not. I love sushi and have never been poisoned my entire life. I think if you go to a good place it is fine. Note this is only MY opinion - I know a lot of people may think I'm putting myself and my baby at unnecessary risk. But honestly, finding things I want to eat has been hard so yes I eat cold cuts and cheese and fish. Probably driving to/from work everyday in mad rush hour is statistically more likely to harm me than any of those things - just don't eat old stuff or borderline stuff. But whatever you feel is right for you is the right thing to do for you. Again - just my opinion.

No ahi (tuna) and NOTHING raw in the meat department! I've heard not to eat cold cuts and hot dogs too but, I've totally been craving Chicago dogs!

Fish is definitely one of the more confusing foods to keep track of. The types that are safe are really good for you and the baby because of the fatty acids for brain development, plus it's such lean protein. I like the Mayo Clinic (renowned hospital in Minnesota) for a lot of health advice - http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/pregnancy-week-by-week/in-depth/pregnancy-and-fish/art-20044185

I love fish. But the smell of it I can not take. I'm no expert but stay away from albacore tuna, chunk tuna, fish that may be high in mercury. The fish I love are not in those categories like, flounder, tilapia, salmon, shrimp, crab. And I don't eat fish every day. Maybe 2-3 times a week.

There are sone fish to avoid when pregnant like shark, king mackerel, and a few others. Just enjoy in moderation. Doctors usually say 12 oz-ish per week. I personally get a tempura fried sushi roll with salmon in it. That way I get sushi, which I love, and its cooked fish.

You can eat cooked fish in moderation like not everyday but once or twice a week is fine no matter the fish or mercury level. I wouldn't touch anything raw whilst pregnant tho. Looking up things on the Internet can screw women up in the head as there is soo much false information on there. If in doubt about anything just ask your doctor or midwife im sure they would be the best people for help

Raw fish is a no no. There are safe fist to eat (cooked) while pregnant. In fact, it's good for you. Google what types are safe. Some contain too much mercury and should be avoided.
