First IUI and Cramping

After months of testing and last month being told we only had less than a 1% chance of conceiving we had IUI today.  I was told that my FSH day 3 was 10 (not bad for almost 39) but day 10 20.8.  Needless to say I was devastated!!  All my other levels were completely normal if not awesome I was told (go figure).  Last cycle we did 100mg clomid with little cramping but we did have two viable eggs and one that was large but viable but due to depression I skipped IUI.  This month I pulled myself together, added some natural ingredients with 150mg clomid (7days).  Once again they said I had one follicle at 19,17,32 and many from 11-14mm...so they had me use HCG injection (rump) that night...At the IUI today I told the doctor how tender my stomach was and about the cramping..He said these were good signs..He also told me that my husbands specimen was of great quality.  Now I have had cramping, pretty intense at times all day and we are 9hrs past.  I have been told this is also a good sign..Has anyone else heard of this??  Just looking for a small glimmer of hope after 10yrs of trying and the loss of twins in late November (inmature eggs)

Im so relieved to read that others are experiencing the cramps post IUI.  Its funny how your mind automatically goes to the worst possible scenerio.  I too called my clinic and the RN assured me that cramps can be normal for the first days following IUI.  On friday I had 3 17mm follicles-two on one side and one on the other.  My IUI specimen count was over 20 mil....Crossing my fingers that my first IUI is my last IUI!  Cannot wait until May 9, when I get to do the official test!

Its not the IUI that causing the cramping its the huge ovulation!

I took 100mg clomid with my twins..
Monitered by ultra sound for folicular growth..
Did the HCG and IUI the next day and a home insem the day after.. The night of the IUI I cramped alot and my hubby slept with hus hand on my belly like a heating pad...

I had 2 dominant folicles the same size the day of the IuI and it worked 1 try...

Ihad my 1st iui on thursday feb 17th and experienced pretty serious cramping for two whole days. I thought this was probably due to them doing the iui too soon after the trigger shot... they only waited 26 hrs.  I had some mild spotting after the procedure as well but was told this was normal.

Hey noogles, did u go 4 beta yet?

I have just undergone my first iui. I have pcos and was put on a low dose of clomid which i didn't respond to. I did however have one follicle develop slowly so i took trigger shot on sat and went for iui on monday. I did have some cramping that day but they did tell me that i may have some. Playing the waiting game now. I wish you all the best .

I have not undergone IUI but I found your post to be interesting since I am starting a cycle any day, as soon as I start. I am doing injectables. I wish you the very best!!! Tracie

I have not done IUI myself, but have heard from other women that they too experienced cramping.  I am honestly not certain if it was a sign of anything, but am fairly certain it is pretty normal.

Remember that odds are only that..odds.  If this is what you want, I think it's great that you are not giving up.  Miracles happen every day.  They did for me. I finally had a healthy baby boy at 40 (almost 41) after 5 miscarriages.  But like you I kept trying.  We are so lucky to live in a day and time where so many options are available to us.  If IUI turns out not to be the solution, there are other things you can do.  I wish you SSBD!! (super sticky baby dust).
