Ovulation detection / Fertility drugs

If I want to be put on clomid or formid, do I need doctor's description? What is the procedure?

And second question, I am trying to get pregnant. Last Monday, I saw my cervical mucus as egg white and my breasts became swollen and tender. I had my period four days later.  Does this mean I ovulate only a few days before my period?  I want to figure this out so that we can get pregnant without having to take any drugs..
Thx.

I am confussed on these drugs.  Are these drugs for the woman to take so she can conceive??  I didn't think I had the need to ask this question, but since you posted it I think I will!  My sitaution for many years was that my BF had an extremely low sperm count, and so I never got pregnant with him and now 14 yrs later I am pregnant just like that!  My curious question is ....what type of medication would my boyfriend have taken for his fertility problem??  Would it have been clomid or formid?  Or is there something else that is recommended for men....seriously I really don't know anything of these drugs, so hopefully this doesn't sound to darn silly.

Overnight if I can, but at least 2 hours or so.  I know it sounds nuts, but DH's Dr. (who I guess interned for a while in a fertility clinic) told him that.  He said it would solve a lot of peoples fertility issues...that and not going pee afterward.

I can't answer this post in it's entirety, but will tell you what I know about it.

First off, I was getting ready to start chlomid when I became pregnant on my own. It is by prescription only, and my OB had me tracking my cycle on a chart for temps, etc every morning.  I am not sure if I had to do this more then one cycle, because, as I say, I became pregnant on my own.

If you saw your cm as egg whites, swollen breasts, etc, that could mean thats when you ovulated.  It can also mean you are getting ready to have your period.  If it was ovulation, and you started your period 4 days later, you could have a shortened luteal phase, which will interfere with you getting pregnant.  I have had that happen once or twice, but not every month.  We don't necessarily ovulate the same time every month. However, if that is happening regularly for you, you should probably see an RE.

I have had great success with Ovulation Predictor Kits.  If you usually have a 28 day cycle, start testing on day 11 (the instructions in the kit will tell you).  Once I get my LH surge, my husband and I take advantage every day.  You usually will get your LH surge anywhere from 12 - 72 hours before you ovulate, so we take advantage every day for 4 days or so.  Afterwards (this is the TMI part..lol), I stay in bed, hips and legs elevated, and no using the bathroom.  This has worked 3 times for us now.  Also, no lubricant!  You can use a product called preseed that can be ordered from www.preseed.com, or some stores carry it, I just haven't found one personally.  Even if  a lubricant says it doesn't have spermicide in it, it can still interfere with the sperm mobility.

Sorry such a long answer, but I hope some of the info helps, and wish you the best of luck in TTC.
