Hi Tracie,

I'm 36 and currently almost 15w pregnant with my first. Basal Body Temperature in combination cervical mucus, and an Ovulation Prediction Kit is the best way to go. It has been for me, and we concieved the first month. I suggest you to get Toni Weschler's book (taking charge of your fertility). I have learnt so much from that book. It teaches you how to interpret your BBT chart and how to recognize when you are ovulating by looking at your cervical mucus.

My cycles weren't even that regular: normally 26-27 but every 4-5 months I would have a longer cycle (up to 30). During my short cycles ovulation was always on day 12 (note that the BBT would only shift 2 days after the ovulation had occurred, it all depends on how fast your body starts producing the progesterone, which elevates your BBT). The month we conceived it was a longer cycle and it took me completely off guard (I had a longer one the month before too). It was the first time I used an ovulation kit, but the most clear sign was the cervical mucus. The day after, the OPK indicated that I had ovulated and two days later my BBT shifted and 2 weeks later I got a positive HPT.

Good luck to you!!!

I think you should chart your basal body temperature.  If you google it, there is tons of info on it.  I think it is the best tool for learning when your O is and timing intercourse.. opks are very confusing (for me anyway) but used together with the charting is really helpful.

When you chart your temps, there will be a thermal shift at the time of o.  At the end of the cycle when your period comes, count back 13-14 days and it will usually align with where the thermal shift occurs.  Unless you have a short luteal (sp?) phase (the phase between o and next period), which will show up on the chart if you do.. typically your period should show up about 13-14 days after ovulation.   Best of luck to you!!

you could be oing at a different time.  I hate to say it but 4 months isnt toooo long LOL but I know it seems like forever.  It took 8 months after MC and many many OPK's and HPT  for me to finally get my BFP.  I wish you the best
