Baby Names

Hi Everyone!

I'm 35 and 9 weeks into my 4th pregnancy.  I have one son (Max, 1 1/2 years) and have had two miscarriages, both at 11 weeks.  I love this forum, but sometimes I need a distraction from reading and worrying about scary ultrasounds, low HCG and miscarriage risk.  I think about all of that WAY TOO MUCH!

On a more positive note, is anyone thinking about baby names?  I would love to hear your ideas!

If we have a girl, I'm thinking "Mylee Jo".  Boy, "Wilson James".

I agree with Patty.  I think a kids name can be cutesy, but when they become an adult, they choose to go by the formal name at times.  My DH's name is Martin, and he goes by Marty with all of his friends, but at work he is Martin.  He knows when a phome call comes in from work, because they ask for Martin. Then he knows its not fun calling, and sometimes he skips out -- not hearing that from me...

Also, my step dad's given name is Jackie Winfield.  He's 81 years old, and to this day he hates the name, and is embarassed when anyone uses it  He has always gone by Jack, and at one time thought of changing his birth certificate!  I'm thinking he took alot of **** for the name in school, but never minded his mother calling him Jackie.

Just a thought

Love to see all the names and ideas!  My husband is dead set on Hudson (boy) and Kendall (girl).  So far the u/s showed one of each.  I just have a hard time settling on something although i really like Hudson.  It took me until i was leaving the hospital with my now 3 1/2 yr old to actually give her the name Avery Nicole.  For girls i also like Addison, Emory, Kacie and I could go on!

Hi!

I think one of the reasons behind giving your child longer name, then calling them a nickname version of it, is so that when they grow up, they can use the more formal, adult version if the choose.  Also, I think it's nice to have choices with your name!

Heya,  Well I'm not really sure where I saw Ellison.  If you look it up in the baby name books it always comes up under boy names...go figure lol.  I may have read it in a book plus my step dad's name is Elliot so it kinda fit. :)

My son's name is David Andrew and everyone (including everyone at school) call him Andrew. They ask you what your child refers to being called, and go by whatever you tell them. Most schools are respectful in that way.

so many people are naming this.....   but then will call baby that.....

why not just name it the shorter 'nick name'?

think about school and attendance, and how people will refer to the kid by a 'full' name instead of what you've been calling it.

not saying what you are doing is wrong by any means... i'm just wondering what the reasoning is behind it.

Thanks so much for sharing!  This has been a nice distraction!

Syre - Where did you come up with "Ellison"?  I was thinking about Millison for a girl at one point, calling her "Milli".  I still like that one.

AZ Angie - I am keeping you in my thoughts.  Hang in there.

My DH and I have a hard time agreeing on names, so who knows what it will end up being?!

Hi, i'm 41 and  7 weeks preg tomorrow with twins.  We've tried for 10 yrs to get preg so i've had my  names for awhile.hahah
if it's boy/boy    Jensen Charles (after my gpa) and Cooper Edward (after hubby)
if it's girl/girl  Ellison Elizabeth and Emmeline Katherine (they'd be called Elly and Emmy)
if it's girl/boy  it will either be Brinson (my gma's maiden name) ELizabeth and call her Brinny and Cooper    OR Ellison and Jensen       (Brinson and Jensen sounds retarded HA!)

Best of luck to you!!!!

I'm 44 and have recently been trying to get over 2 miscarriages.  It's nice to think of the positive -- hopeful side of things.   DH and I were trying to think of names with the last pregnancy, before the miscarriage.  It was nice while it lasted...  Anyway, we are thinking of these;
Boy -- Julian Ray, both our birth father's middle names
Girl -- Anya LaVonne ,  my Grandmother's first name, his Mom's middle name

Interestingly, we have a family name on his side from the mid 1800's that is close to  Patty's Zaria -- it's Azariah, a boy's name.  I think it's pronounced az-uh-REE-uh, but I would say it ay-ZAR-ee-uh

well, we are really suckin on the hind tit - good grief - we can't agree on a name and don't seem to be able to find the time to sit down and discuss names - hubby ONLY wants to use Hayley because of Hayley Mills - LOVES the name - I'm not that fond of it - working in preschool, there are more Hayley's then Kellogg's Cornflakes - I love Kathryn - it was my grandmother's name and I have always wanted to use it - and call her either Kate or Katy - (grandmother went by Katy) Hubby doesn't like Kathryn because of someone he used to work with - so for now, her name is Fred - I told hubby I was going to get her a little bowling shirt and have Fred embroidered on it - lol

Jenn - I didn't know your daughter was named Becca - that's what all the kids at school call me cause they can't say - REbecka - although I do have one little boy who is convinced my name is Mister Vecka - I love kids and the way they talk - lol

Our name, weather its a boy or a girl:   Frankie Rain

I have an 11 year old who is keeping my maiden name (i was married recently and he doesn't want to change his name, and I kept my maiden name as well)  Rain is my 11 yr. olds middle name, so we are giving it to this baby too, so they will share the same middle name since they won't have the same last name.

Yanno, I don't have a clue what we are having. I keep wanting to say *her* but I'm not sure if it's because that's a feeling I have or just because my DH and daughter want a girl so bad that they just refer to the baby as a her. I can't wait until this trimester is OVER! I so want to feel normal again! I never have had the gagging thing, I sure hope it doesn't start any time soon.

Girl, if it's not one thing, it's another!  It's the constipation or the gagging, take your pick!  I've kept up on your nausea (sounds weird, huh - lol) & you're almost in your 2nd trimester!  It's suppose to ease up (well mine did except for the gagging thing).  I bet yours will too!!  You have any feelings about what you're having? - jen (14w5d)

I'm not a regular...just dropping in.  Saw this and wanted to share two names of boys who I adore, and whose names are different, but classic, and...well...just nice.  Their names are Gregor and Donnon.  Not names you'll hear on every corner, but solid, like the kids.

Good luck to you all!!!!

I am doing okay, I could be doing a whole lot better without this MS. I had never heard the name either and then when I was thinking of names I told my DH that I wanted something you don't hear every day. So I come up with Zaria! You can steal it, I don't mind!! And how are you doing??
