HELP.....lines getting lighter on BFP!

Ok,

Why do i do this to myself?  I got a BFP on 13DPO.  The line wasn't dark, but definely there.  To double check, i ran and got another test (FRER) and the line was there, but lighter (i tested 2 hrs apart).  So, here i am 2 days later and i POAS this morning to see if it was getting darker, and it is lighter still.  I feel so worried.  Should i just take a digital?  I had a m/c with (2) D&C's 5 months ago, so i am a nervous wreck.  Of course i don't even want to go in for a blood test for fear of a negative.

So sorry to hear this.

I've been in your shoes many times.

Also, I do believe you can tell if your preg is progressing based on the darkness of the HPT line if you use the same time.  I'm A POAS addict and with all my failed pregs, the line never did get much darker day-to-day.  With my ectopic, it was barely visible for a week.

With this preg (20 weeks), the line increased in darkness significantly every day or at least every other day.   This is sad, but I can accurately guess my HCG based on the darkness of the First Response line.

Anyway, best of luck to you.  Will you try again soon?  Your doctor's office is rude and lame for telling you that, btw.

I'm so sorry.  I can't believe that you're dr.'s office would disregard that you were pregnant.  I have to agree with tahariel--time to seek a new doc.  Going through 2 losses myself, I know how you must be feeling.  Even if you're dr.'s office doesn't understand, we understand.  I hope you have a happy healthy pregnancy really soon.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. Sounds like it might be time to seek a new doctor who will be supportive and caring, and one who doesn't have a cranky nurse. Best wishes and hang in there!

Ladies,

Just wanted to update you that i had a chemical pregnancy that i lost last night.  I am devestated as i had a blighted ovum 5 months ago.  My MD left me a voicemail this afternoon  (after looking at my bloodwork) saying that  i must have had a "false positive" pregnancy test ~ she never once mentioned the word "chemical pregnancy" or "early miscarriage".  I  know in my heart i was pregnant - even if for just 8 days.

I tried to call my MD  back with my concerns b/c i  didn't want: "Patient had a 'False Pregnancy test'  in my chart.  That is demeaning and inaccurate.   I couldn't reach her  - so ofcourse i was referred to her (cranky) nurse who kept telling me "Are you sure you read the results right?" (I told her i took a mimimum of 6 tests over the course of a week and showed my husband at least 2 of the positive tests with excitement!).  Then she proceeded to tell me my late period was due to holiday stress and my cramping was d/t "that bug going around."  I feel sad and depressed.  I feel like my doctor and her nurse think i am too stupid to know how to read a pg test (by the way this is my 3rd pregnancy and i am a RN, so i think i know how to read pg test directions).  By them not acknowleging that i was actually pregnant makes me feel like i have no right to grieve and feel sad.  (By the way, i didn't go in for a Hcg until this morning, after bleeing all nihgt - so obviously the Hcg test would be less than 5).

Thank you ladies again for listening, giving excellent advice and giving me a reason to keep trying.  You are all inspirational.  God Bless you all.  I turn to you when i am feeling anxious about things when ttc.

I know what you mean about not being able to talk to your dh about these things.  When I was ttc, I totally wore people out.  Not just dh but everyone.  They just don't get it, unless they've been there.  Thank goodness for this forum, it was the outlet I need to be with like minded ttc and pg obsessers.  :)

Have a good new year!!

Once you get a BFP on a HPT, next step is to schedule an appt with your ob/gyn. No sense getting more HPTs if one already said positive. From what I understand about HPTs, the darkness or lightness of the positive line doesn't mean much. If the positive line is there, no matter how light or dark, you are most likely pregnant. Good luck at your ob/gyn appt.

Go to peeonastick.com it toatally will explain why the stick is lighter and belive me it is not because your HCG levels are dropping like you probably think in you mind , go now to the website it is so informative on explaining the science of the HPT( and funny too)with lots of pics it will ease your mind instantly , Good Luck God Bless and a Happy New Year

First: Men do not understand that the colour of a pregnancy test does matter, like they do not understand why we need six pairs of black shoes etc.
Did you use the same test all the time? I guess there can be a difference between the different makes available. When I was pregnant I had a very dark line with Clearblue while a shop brand test didn't respond at all 2 days later. Take care and a very happy 2008 (started here already!)

You guys are the best.  Thank you so much.  You are always so reassuring and calming.  When i try and talk to my husband about the lines looking lighter, his response is always, "HUH?"  I really love him, but i can't talk with him about test lines and other pregnancy related issues because frankly, he has no idea what i am talking about!

Happy New Year.

My lines were always pretty light.  I expected them to become really dark after my missed AF but they didn't.  I even kept one till I was like 6wks just because I wanted to see a dark line, like on T.V. or in the pictures.  At 6wks it was darker but still not what I thought it would be.

Stop torturing yourself and focus on the fact that your are pg.  Congrats!!!  Enjoy!!

PUT THE TESTS DOWN!!!  (but I did the same thing).  There's nothing I can say to reassure you but hopefully in a week it will be busting out bright purple. I wouldn't get a digital because if it's showing on a FRER it's going to come up PREGNANT anyways.  I bet you are a nervous wreck but don't let the tests weird you out, have you called the Dr.? Call and get an HCG test, put your mind at ease :) congrats!
