REPEATED MISCARRIAGE

for myself i feel very fortunate. i have had five live births and no m/c. one of my babies was almost six weeks early due to abrupted placenta. my question is for my sister, who is going through a very traumatic time. she has had a m/c about every 3 months for the past several years. one lasted past the 12th week. she is again pregnant. she is experiencing cramping but no bleeding. my gut feeling is that she has some kind of chromosome or antibody issue going on. could this be a possibility? what tests would she ask for at her PCP or OB/GYN office? Maybe she is nutrient deprived in some way. She will be 36 in may. she has a hx of back problems including degenerative arthritis and ddd. her husband is 21 yrs her senior and has a hx of heart problems. i know she could have a healthy pregnancy and i want to make this happen for her. i just dont know how. could environmental factors play a roll?

That stinks. Sorry to hear that.  I was in a similar boat with 10 mcs after my DD.  Your sister should go to a reproductive endocrynologist (SP?) and get a full blood workup done.  There are way too many to list, everything from genetic predispositions, to clotting disorders, to hormone levels and progesterone, to FSH which can tell you egg quality.  Unfortunately, they only find a cause about 50% of the time if that.  All my test came back normal, and after three long years I am finally 21w.  Best of luck to your sis.
