Yogi Mother To Be Tea - Caution

Regarding Yogi Mother To Be Tea....

So, having just gotten home from the embie transfer, I poured myself a cup of this tea.  I decided to first check the ingredients.  The first ingredient is Raspberry Leaf.  After some googling, it turns out there is some debate over whether this is safe throughout a pregnancy...or whether it is only safe toward the end to help induce labor!  Better safe than sorry...I tossed the stuff in the trash!  What upsets me is that I drank this stuff after my first IVF.

Sorry, just need to add...for the most part herbal teas and remedies have not been tested, so they don't really know if they are safe during pregnancy or not.  That is why when you look them up, most will not recommend being used during pregnancy. I remember looking at red raspberry leaf tea in a health food store, and it clearly said, not for use during pregnancy.

That being said, it is still unlikely this caused a miscarriage, or prevented conception.

It is unlikely it caused miscarriage.  On some occasions enviromental factors have been believed to be linked to miscarriage..smoking, drug use, etc. but for the most part 1st trimester miscarriages are one of those things that just happen, more often then not due to some sort of chromosonal abnormality.  Nothing you can do to cause it nor prevent it.  A fetus that is growing normally and healthy is very very difficult to miscarry.

I'm sorry to hear that, Moonflower...

I've read that it helps with labor and that it can be used to help induce labor.

And I drank this Yogi tea regularly during my 1st unsuccessful IVF cycle.  Granted, I was 41 at the time and had already suffered 2 miscarriages from naturally occuring pregnancies, so who knows why none of the 4 grade A embryos stuck.

I do know I'll never trust a Yogi brand product again.

Can it cause miscarriages????????

I was drinking it last time I got pregnant last August and md'd in October.  I was between 9-10 weeks when I mc'd.  My first pregnancy was YEARS ago - 17 when I was 22.  I didn't start drinking it until I was very far along - at least 5 months.  this time I thought I'd do the same but started it sooner not researching any of these facts.  Now I'm concerned maybe it caused the mc.

I too have read much contradictory information on it.  My OB told me to stay away from it as they really don't know.  I talked to a nutritionist who said the same thing.  It is too much of an unknown to take that chance, for me anyway.  I do know many women here who have drank it after they were full term to try to start labor.  I just personally don't like to take any chances.

I know...it is confusing...I've read two theories.  That it helps alleviate some pregnancy symptoms and strengthens.  Others go a step further, saying that it helps induce labor, making it dangerous too early in a pregnancy.

I'm confused. I thought rasberry leaf tea was good for pregnancy. I drank it every night starting in my 2nd trimester 1st pg and drank a very concentrated mix when contractions began. I was in labor for less than 3 hours and had a natural child birth. Is it unsafe to drink during pregnancy?I did this almost 17 years ago from advise from a friend. If it's unsafe, I will not do it again.

I think it is grossly irresponsible advertising.  I will never purchase another Yogi brand product again!

Thank you for posting this, it is important information.  I was told to stay away from it as there is some debate as to whether or not it can induce labor.  I agree, better safe then sorry!
