Clomid & Ovidrel

Hi -
I'm trying to concive again after a miscarrage in '09 and loosing my twins at 15 weeks this past August (concieved first try with IUI).  We tried naturally for a couple months, and no luck.  So, I went back to my RE right before Thanksgiving and the plan was to do an IUI in December.

He prescribed the clomid and Ovidrel and i have processed the presciption.  We're out of town (about 1,500 miles away actually)  from 12/21-12/28, and according to my calendar, the IUI wuold have to happen around the 27th.  I can't change my plans.

What are your thought on just using the Clomid and Ovidrel and timed intercourse?

What is Preseed?  Where do you get it?  What's the deal with Robitussen?  Sorry...so many questions!

No, we don't have an issue with low sperm count.  I guess we just have one of those 'unexplained' infertilitity issue.  I had surgery for endometriosis last spring and had an IUI the following month and got pregnant!  So, IUIs do work for me (not to jinx myself).

I went to the dr today and he said to take the clomid then come in first thing when i get back 12/29.  That will be cycle day 15 - hopefully the timing will work!

I used Clomid and Preseed and drank Robitussen (which works).  Just conceived after two months on Clomid.  Definitely worth a try.

I did femara and novarel with timed intercourse and it worked for me.(now 30 weeks)  Try getting some Preseed(sp?) for your cervical fluid.  Are you doing IUI because of low sperm count?  If so then I wouldnt waste the meds but if not go for it.  Good luck.

Thanks, that would be the perfect Christmas present!

My doctor is going to say not to do it because a side effect of the Clomid is that it can dry up the cervical fluid - making it difficult (if not impossible) for the sperm to make it to the egg.  He only uses clomid with IUI - not by itself.

I feel like i heard of other people being successful with Clomid/Ovidrel and timed intercourse...so i'm still considering it.  What do i have to loose?  Unfortunately i can't change my plans at this point.  :-(

If it were me, I would.  I would hate to waste the medicated cycle, and if it is impossible for you to change plans, I would try it for sure.  It certainly can't hurt, and maybe you'll get a Christmas gift!
