I had some maternity pants that were snugger than others.  I brought those with me. It has been 8 weeks and I still can't wear my pre-pg clothes.

I had to break down and buy a pair of jeans.  They are two sizes larger than my pre-preggo jeans and I bought them around 3wks after delivering.  Today I could probably get away with one size larger.  I hope anyway.  If I still can't fit into my pr-preggo work clothes by the time I go back to work, i might have to wear my belly band again.

I wore one size larger then my normal size. but to be on the safe side..with this one.. I plan on wearing sweats. streachy kind... that way all will be fine.. lol wats so good about that is the darn weather... you can have layers with sweats. short sleeve shirt with jacket.. If its hot.. you can always wrap the jacket around your waist.. and lookie there... no one can see..lol I dont even wear maturnity sweats.. just larger ones then I did befor and there low rise.. so no problem.. target has some really cute ones. check em out.

My water didn't break on it's own so I don't know about that, but let me tell ya about some water weight gain!!! I can remember like an hour after she was born everyone was like "look how long and thin her fingers are! " I was like "ya, so are mi.....well,,,,,mine were!" They were so swollen the skin felt tight when I'd try to bend them. My feet were that way to. So, I think I'll be taking yoga pants and flip flops.

Not to scare you but when I had my first (6 years ago) I left the hospital in my regular maternity clothes....and they were tighter than when I got there pregnant 4 days before!!!  Needless to say I was mortified and in shock......My shoes didn't fit also.  I wore a 7 or a 71/2 to the hospital and had to leave wearing my mom's shoes (size 9).  Good luck, but don't be too disappointed if some clothes are still tight, it takes a while to go down.

This is a really good question. B/c no one ever advised me on this, I packed my size 3 pre-PG sweats & PJs thinking I'd be able to fit into them like, the minute after giving birth - HA! oh man, was I ever wrong.
Your uterus does not magically shrink down to regular size after you give birth.
It's empty but still all stretched out & spent. The only difference is it won't be all round & hard. I didn't fit into a size 3 again for at least a year.

Your best bet is to pack pretty much the same pants you are wearing 2nd-3rd trimester.

I took maternity clothes that were loose and comfy. Boy did I think I was HOT! I'm going to tell you. I look back at those pictures on the computer and I'm posing with my shirt up like I just lost 100 lbs and boy did I look SUPER GROSS!! It's like getting your braces off, ha ha ha!

i hope you have a naturally childbirth but i suggest wearing something that isnt too low on the hips (some maternity pants are) just in case you were to have a c.  swelling can be an issue for some women.  i remember it like it was yesterday~i went in at 430 am and was in mismatched clothes because i soaked my bottoms a few times when my water broke haha!!

Oh.. I should add... I'm also wearing flip flops home too! No sense in trying to do something that is going to kill me getting accomplished.. like tying shoes...lol

Well, one thing you're never prepared for POST baby is how swollen you get from water retention. The water retention (for me) was worse post delivery than at any time during pregnancy and in fact I joked that my toes looked like little vienna sausages sticking out of a big blown up balloon (my foot). I couldn't even tie my tennis shoes. You're not going to be in the hospital enough for your tummy to shrink back that much...that happens over the first couple weeks so either get some loose sweats (like Patty said) or just do the dang-ole maternity stuff out of the hospital.

Meli- all the literature says about 6 months size.. but I'm with Delma- I bought some Sweat pants at Cato's that are big that have a tie string and I won't fret over the price. I do not want to wear maternity clothes home from the hospital but I do want to be comfy!

You know its been such a long time since I had mine but I would think something comfy that is a stretch all. Like sweats that are like capri's or shorts depending on how nice your weather is. I guess all these questions I am trying to answer are way ahead me...lol
