If you follow the link, it give the full 47 page report by manufacurer and study details. Actually many of the leading brands are making glass available again. I found glass EvenFlo packs on the web, I'm sure there are many others. I had problems breast feeding my son and had to supplement early on, I hope it goes better this time around.
Just wanted to pass along the info for those who might benefit.
Very general summary:
Bisphenol A is a Developmental, Neural, and Reproductive Toxicant
> Scientists have linked very low doses of bisphenol A exposure to cancers, impaired immune function, early onset of puberty, obesity, diabetes, and hyperactivity, among other problems.
I don't think I've ever seen a glass baby bottle.
What were the study details? Did it say how long the liquid had to be in the bottle before the chemical leached into the liquid? When my children used the bottles, the liquid would only be in the bottles for a few minutes before they were finished.
With the new Proposition 65 in California, it seems like they are going a bit overboard on everything. While I appreciate the warnings, they should also release all the details from the studies to give more accurate guidelines.
My dh has been reading up on this alot. Here is a link to an article that lists some safer alternative on page 3.
