I HAD A U/S ON FRIDAY, THEY TOLD ME I WAS 5 WEEKS AND 3 DAYS THEY  SAW A SACK, NO FETAL POLE OR HB. THEY  ALSO SAW A CIST ON MY RIGHT OVERY. I HAVE BEEN BLEEDING OFFAND ON THE WHOLE TIME, THEY SAID IT WAS ODD THAT IT WASNT AFFECTING THE PREGNANCY. IVE HAD MY BLOOD TAKEN 3 TIMES FOR HCG LEVELS. 990 WAS FRIST, 2 DAYS LATER 975 SO THEY TOLD ME I WAS MISCARRING AND WANTED TO SCHUALE A D AND C. I SAID I WANTED I WANTED ONE MORE TEST THEY SAID IT WAS A WASTE AND IT WOULD NOT GO UP, THE NEXT TEST SHOWED 1490. THE DOCTOR SEEMED UPSET THAT IT WENT UP, AND TOLD ME NOT TO GET MY HOPES UP. SHE HAD ME DO ANOTHER HCG TEST YESTERDAY, IT WAS 990 SHE WANTS TO DO AN D AN C. HAS ANYONE ELESE HAD ANY THING LIKE THIS? WHAT SHOULD I DO? IS THERE ANY HOPE?

5 weeks 3 days can be a little too early to be able to see a fetal pole. Not too sure what is happening with your hCG levels. A decline in levels is never a good sign, but they did go up at some point and then down again. Your first levels at 990 seem very high. Just a thought, but maybe you were carrying twins and one was absorbed? I would wait a week and request another u/s before going through with a D&C.

my hcg went up from 1240 to 18000 in one week and the doctor still thinks i am miscarring , since there was an empty sac at 5weeks and very low progesterone [10]. i am having another u/s done next week .. he told me that the rise of the hcg sometimes indicate the dying of the pregnancy... it's very hard to wait but we need to realize that it's all for the best, even if we can't cope w/ the loss, i am telling myself to listen to my own words...[!!] good luck.

Hi -- I just had my 2nd miscarriage.  My hcg levels on this second one were about 1000 points higher than yours, but my Reproductive Endocrinologist said I would miscarry based on my very low hcg levels.  (We saw a gestational sac on the ultrasound as well.)  Of course, I didn't want to believe that I was on the verge of another miscarriage, but 5 days later I started to bleed heavily.  Three days into the miscarriage, I had another hcg test, and my hcg level was up another 500 points.  It was like my body hadn't gotten the message it was miscarrying.  You can just wait and see what happens, though.  If you bleed heavily for several days, you are likely miscarrying.  I was at 7 weeks when I finally had the miscarriage, and I was told no D&C was needed at that early stage.  Last summer I lost a pregnancy at 9 and 1/2 weeks, and was told to have the D&C for that one.  So I don't see why, at 5-6 weeks, you would need to have a D&C if you don't want to have one and you are willing to put up with a week of heavy bleeding if you do miscarry.

et the d.c if you need it'
1. much safer than bleeding at home and might end up at er anyhow.
2.gets all out , easier to get pregnant and safer in case stuff stays inside and you don't know till much later, which could cause problems.
much luck and healthy kids.
