BAD sinus infection - help, anyone?

by allip68, Aug 09, 2008 05:30AM
I've had a sinus infection for five days and have been on antibiotics (augmentin, or amoxicillin) for 2.5 days (5 doses) already and have seen no improvement.  I am in so much pain and am worried about my unborn baby's health.  Does anyone have experience with this?  Shouldn't the antibiotics be working at least a little by now?  I'm halfway through the  prescription.  I thought when I'd taken antibiotics for things in the past I was cured well before I finished the prescription.

I was on amoxicillin too and hardly seen any improvement until I was nearly done the bottle and then it just came back anyways. Then it took about a week after the bottle was finished for me to get better. Hope you get better soon.

I had a really bad sinus infection 21/2 months ago. I noticed it did take longer than usual to feel better. I think it is because of all the extra hormones which cause swelling in our nose/sinus. I ended up on steroids (only because I have asthma also). If I remember correctly, I did not feel better until the last couple of days of antibiotics. My Doctor told me  if I developed a fever, the antibiotics were not working. I think everything is just much slower when we are pregnant.

Thank you for responding.  Ugh, I guess it's good news that the antibiotic could be working but bad news that everything is probably less/more slowly effective when we're pregnant.  Up again at 4am from the pain :(
