Natural progression

I've been watching The Business of Being Born. And I just saw the follow up on Netflix. It seems more and more that Doctors don't know how to let pregnancy mature on its own. 30+% C-section rate these days. I realized that I wasn't pressured to have it the first time but stopped progressing once they gave me Pitocin and I could not handle the intensity of the contractions afterward.
With my second, I told the Doctors that I failed to progress and had a C-section with my first. I was automatically given another one. I never had to have it, but no one told me. I wasn't high risk like I am now.
I've been contemplating asking for a VBAC with this one but I had intended to get my tubal ligation.
My point is, is anyone else wondering if they are really being told the wrong thing?

I think it depends on the doctor. My sister had a c section with her first but had a cervical tear from pushing at first. With her second she decided to have a c section because of the tear, but they kept asking her and making sure that's what she wanted. So I think it all depends on the doctor's point of view, but yeah that's really messed up they couldn't even tell you it was an option :( it's all about liability these days in the hospitals.

Where I am, c sections are rarely scheduled and vaginal births are encouraged. We also have midwives and only see an obstetrician if we have complications or choose to pay. I have been amazed reading of inductions before 40 weeks to fit in with what parents want which is unheard of without a medical reason.
I am big on asking questions and making informed decisions with my partner.
And, I am under obstetrician care being high risk and have been told I may need early induction or a c section but those are plan b at this stage, they're still happy for me to birth naturally at this point.
