Update on HCG test following 6.3 week u/s with no fetal pole / hearbeat

by cpatow, Sep 28, 2007 09:28AM
My HCG #s yesterday were 34,476. Doc said the absolute # yesterday doesn't matter so much as what happens with tomorrow's. If the number increases or doubles they need to see my on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. What would the be concerned of? An extrauterine pregnancy? Wouldn't a gestational sac show that the pregnancy was intrauterine? But then if the # decreases, well, writing's on the wall. So Monday it is. Say prayers everyone!!!

Good luck on Monday.  I hope they see it double and find the fetal pole!!  I am guessing too that they are probably concerned about extrauterine pregnancy but I am not totally sure on that.  My guess is that a gestational sac in the uterus would show that pregnancy is intrauterine but I guess it does not rule out another one in the tube - it's always a possibility, although probably low.  Whatever the numbers do you can always request one more ultrasound just to check any changes like if anything got bigger or smaller or something new shows up.  In my experience they are very willing to do a second u/s in this type of scenerio where nothing is for sure.  Best of luck!

Did you see a sac in your US? I'm wondering if your Dr. is worried about ectopic that's why he wants to see you right away? I don't know but I'll send big prayers your way!

We did see a gestational sac but I think that's it. I don't even remember if we saw a yolk sac

yeah, if gestation sac is in the uterus that usually means no ectopic.. i guess it would still be possible if there was another fertilized egg.  If you weren't on fertility drugs that is unlikely tho.

You'll be in my thoughts.. and I'll be checking in to see your good news.

So, I had my 2nd HCG yesterday (Saturday) and won't be able to get my results until tomorrow (Monday). My first was >35,000. My symptoms have definitely been INCREASNG reather than decreasing. My breasts are still sore, getting more sore, and yesterday I was so incredibly nautious ALL DAY. I woke up this morning so sick I've been hovering close to the restroom.

I told my husband that THIS SUCKS quite frankly. If I am indeed NOT PREGNANT, no longer pregnant or some variation inbetween, the WHAT THE HECK??? I feel like hell. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that 6.3 weeks transvaginal u/s was really :-I

Anyways, just wanted to post an update...will post again on Monday with my 2nd HCG# and the doc's plans. When I called on Friday for the 1st # they said if my # does double over the weekend then they will want to see me in the office ASAP. Not sure what that means.
