short luteal phase

Hi.  AF showed up over the weekend, which brings up my next question...  my luteal phase was only 10 days.  I've only charted this past month, so I don't know if that will fluctuate over the months or not, but I'm curious if 10 days is too short ??  I have a doctor's appt on Mon just to see how TTC is going, etc., but in the meantime I'm wondering if anyone has been in the situation where they had a short luteal phase & did something/took something to lengthen it or if 10 days is in the normal range.  Thanks :)

I started taking the extra B6 last night.  I also read it's water soluble, so figured it wouldn't hurt.  Thanks again :)

Vitamin B6 is part of an everyday diet, present in cereals, potatoes, meats, nuts and bananas, etc. I think it is fine to begin taking at any time. I started taking the supplement as soon as I read about it's positive effects. Good luck!

Thanks.  I had read that & I bought Vitamin B6 (400 mg).  I'm not sure if I'll go ahead & try it or wait till I talk to my doctor.  I read that you should start taking it the first day AF arrives.  Do you think there's any harm to taking it?

Short luteal phase is defined as less than 10 post-ovulatory days without bleeding.

After charting for a few months, I found I also had a short luteal phase. I took a supplement of Vitamin B6 (200 to 600 milligrams a day was suggested in the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" - awesome book!) I purchased a good brand from our local, reputable natural health food store. It worked!  My luteal phase lengthened and we finally conceived our 2nd, after years of trying. You may want to check with your doctor first, but this worked for us. Good luck!
