Flu Shot??? Can you get it while trying to conceive?

What has everyone heard about getting the flu shot while trying to conceive? I should be ovulating next weekend and I wanted to go get a flu shot tomorrow. I am one of those people that has had the flu in the past (the only year I did not get the flu shot) and it was terrible to be in bed for 3 weeks. I am absolutely terrified to go through that trauma while pregnant if I don't get the shot and happen to get sick.

My OB/GYN said that they are recommeding that anyone trying to conceive or in their 1st trimester should NOT get it yet one of my friends that is 7 weeks pregnant is scheduled to get hers next week. Also, my doctor, the pharmacist at my drug store and the CDC website all says it's okay to get it if you are going to be pregnant at any time during flu season.

I am completely confused so I wanted to know what you all have heard.
