Had appt. number 2 this morning

Well, I had my second appointment....this was with the CNM. I asked about the schedule for the hearbeat and first u/s.  She told me that 9weeks is usually too early, but at my next appt (9/20) they will try to get a hearbeat.
It was also discovered from my exam that my uterus is tipped back. She said its usually not that big of deal because it will usually tip itself into the correct position as the baby grows, but sometimes with a tipped uterus its harder to get a hearbeat.

Anyone have a similar situation?  She didn't seem as if it were a big deal, just that some woman have a uterus tipped forward and some don't and that its actually quite common.

Other than that, she said all my bloodwork from the first appointment checked out just fine, and that everything else seems fine thus far.  So no heartbeat check yet!

My mother has a tipped uterus, she delivered two children with no problem.

They didn't check the HB with my son until 12 weeks - and I'm rail thin.  I go back to my OB when I am 11 weeks and I doubt he will check because I will be getting an US that week.  What's the point.

Good luck, 9/20 will be here before you know it!

If I remember right - my sister had a tipped uterus - and she didn't have any problems other then feeling pain in her lower back more often.  I know it wasn't any problem with delivery or anything.
Continued good health for both of you!

Congrats that is great... at my 10wk appt they did check the hb, but before they did, they said not to panic if we don't hear anything because it was border line on the timing.

I haven't had any experience with the tilted uterus issue, but if they said it wasn't a big deal, I wouldn't' worry about it.  If it was something to be concerned about, they would be honest with you.  Also, since they know about it, they can take whatever special precautions are needed..

Congrats MOM.. this is wonderful. enjoy your pg.. :)

My OB/GYN told me even before I was pg that I had a TILTED uterus, but that it is fairly common, so maybe its the same as a tipped uterus?

Congrats on the bloodwork!
