Headaches during first pregnancy?

Hi girls-

I am pregnant with our first child thru IVF.  I have been on the infertility boards for quite some time but thought I would move over to this forum-I have found it very helpful.  I just passed the 12 week and have been feeling great until about 4 days ago.  I have had a constant headache which comes and goes in severity.  This headache has lasted the last 4 days.  I have been drinkign plenty of fluids so I don't think it is a hydration issue.  I have been taking 2 tylenol a day but I hate to even do that if I don't need to.  Anyone else have this issue?

I am at 13 weeks and still get headaches.  My MD recommended a LITTLE bit of caffeine, like maybe a half a can of coke or soda if you are a coffee drinker.  Usually a good nap will make mine go away, but you can't do that at work, now can we?

Thanks for the response...I am going to talk to my doc on Wednesday.  Tylenol doesn't seem to help me much (I was always an advil taker) so I will talk with him and see what he suggests.  Thanks for the post!

One of the worst problems for me in pregnancy is the headaches. Mine get so severe that the doctor prescribed a medication called Firocet to help them.  They are great and the headache is gone in 20 mins.  I do not like to take them too much tho. Only if the Tylenol cannot touch the pain. If yours get too severe I would ask your doctor about this medication.  I have used it in all of my pregnancies and baby has always been unaffected by the med.

Headaches are very common. I had them all through my first trimester, but now, thank God, they are gone. Glad you are feeling better today and congrats on you little one and making it to the second trimester. :)

Thanks so much for the response...it always makes me feel better to hear what others think.  I am sorry for your headaches too.  I have been feeling so good-never had any morning symptoms or anything during all of first trimester so maybe it is just catching up to me now!  I have finally been released from our RE to my OBGYN and I see him on Wed so I will ask him.  I am feeling much better today though.  Congrats to you on your pregnancy and good luck to you!!!

Oh yes.  For me headaches are always my first symptom and they can get very severe. I still have them now at 25 weeks, although fortunately not as severe. Those hormones can be such nasty little things can't they.  If it has lasted 4 solid days, you might want to give your Dr. a call, but I would bet it's just hormones.   Also, 2 tylenol a day is fine during pregnancy....thank God there is something we can take!  Good luck to you, sounds like a migraine and those are not any fun!
