Opinions about delivery trends...

I'm just wondering what you ladies think...I can't seem to find any info on the web. Both of my kids were earlier than my due date - and I know they were truly early, because I knew when I got pregnant. My daughter was ten days early, and my son was 3 weeks, 4 days early. Also, each labor was shorter...6.5 hours with my daughter, 4.5 hours with my son. I have heard in the past (can't remember where I heard it) that each labor is usually shorter than the previous, and if you tend to have babies early, each will come earlier. I remember after my son, my doctor joking that if I have another child, I should go to the hospital at the first signs of labor. Do any of you think that's true?

I can't comment on the ease of labor & delivery having had 5 c/sections myself but I can tell you that my 1st two children were 3 weeks early.  The 2nd two - I never went into labor & delivered right at my due date.  The last one was virtually the same.  Since every pregnancy is different, it's hard to guess this one.  Good luck & congrats on your pregnancy - jen

I have heard this is true - that your body now knows what to do and does it more efficiently.  It isn't always true though you can't count on it! It wasn't true for me! My first came one day before her due date, and my second was induced 10 days after her due date.  There is just no telling.

Hey Tricia!  How ya feeling today girl?   I can't comment on the earlier part.  But most women I've talked to about labor and delivering, say their second, third and even fourth deliveries were faster, easier and actually more tolerable.  I know...I'm already thinking about the labor/delivery!!!!  Pam
