yes... It does help!! Thank you soooooooo much. I thought that this is just crazy.. why even take the other one? oh well... maybe it will be out of my system by Monday. Thats what I love about this forum! You get some answers so much quicker then trying to learn online.. and oh... there is so much to learn on this subject. really didnt want to go there. smile. I would read and just think... theres no way!!! well... there is... but.... I think we know our body and it just didnt seem so.. at least now I can put it behind me and stop trying to learn so much about it. Thanks ....You guys are the BEST!!
Tennessee - I just checked w/my favorite pharmacist (dh) & he confirmed that the steriod you were taking would definitely have an effect on your glucose tolerance test. Hope this helps & also good luck passing that 3 hour one - bless your heart!
I failed my one hour glucose test also. At the time I kinda freaked but then after I talked people about it I found that lots of people fail the one hour test and pass the three hour test. I think my one hour test was 169 or around there. I've never had a problem with sugar either but sometimes when you are pregnant you boby just handles it differently. Even if you do fail your three hour test, it can usually be controlled with diet.
I can't believe you are 30wks already. I have been so consumed with me and jacob, I haven't been keeping up with other very well. You are so close now!!
they will try diet before insulin... I ate before the one hour test and mine was 129...
good luck and well... there are worse things count your blessings!
When I took the 1 hour I didnt eat anything yet..and it was around 11.00. so I was starving!! had my ob appt.in the am and went streight to the bloodwork place, after that. so when it was all done... drank that very sweet orange drink . then I went and piged out.. lol
My ob did tell me that the steriold shot I had taken would throw it off some. and that it stays in you system for a long time.... so... I told him yesterday that I have been on the pills now.. for 7 days...and he wants to do it anyway. I just hope he knows what hes doing. would hate to have to take inslin, and really not be needed due to the pills. ya know.. ugh.. I guess Ill just wait and see how this 3 hr. testing goes..
thanks guys for the info..
I was given a 2200 calorie diabetic diet to follow today at my appt - I have insulin resistance and my sugars are generally 96-106 fasting, so my doctor had me skip the 1 hour test knowing I would fail (I did....200 at 1 hour) and I came really close to failing the 3 hour, so he's starting me on the diet now. I have to monitor my sugar on Tuesdays and Thursdays - fasting and 2 hours after breakfast - to start off with and see how I do. I hate this, no more ice cream and cookies......or bagels! I have to go home tonight and figure out what I can eat and start making meal plans for myself. It won't be hard to do, just a pain and not what I was hoping for. But, for my precious little girl, I'll do what I'm told!
oh and it has no connection to how you are with sugars before pg... the older you are the more likely to have GD... it is the way you process sugar while pg due to the stress the pg puts on your body... I have had it twice and as soon as I give birth it all goes back to normal... I didn't get it this time. As far as if you have it... you will be put on a diet... of lower carbs and always having carbs and protein together.. you will eat 3 meals and 3 snacks... it is not so much counting calories as carbs... you will test your blood sugar 2 hours after you eat every meal and then be able to adjust your diet so that your levels stay in the right zone... good luck and ask your dr.
ok it was supposed to be under 130 to pass... so you are pretty high... did you eat a lot of sugar or juice before the test?
I know that Cortisone definitely raises the blood sugar.
ugh.. I tried the experts forum.. Ill try again!!
but Hey.. if you guys have any input.. would love to hear... smile
