update from my hemo appt today

where do i begin...well i had more bloodwork drawn and ill be going in for an u/s sometime because i might have a blood clot in my leg....i go back in 4 weeks to talk to the doc about my results and finalize a plan of action...he is calling my OB and requesting that i be transferred to a high risk OB who specializes in high risk pregnacies

ill be on lovenox when im pregnant again...as soon as i get a BFP i have to call the office and get the rx for it that day and start taking it

he said as i get older it might be in my best intrest to get a hysterectomy but since i want to have more kids right now he's going to try and help me do that

i have been diagnosed with factor 5 leiden heterozygous compounded defect...its a bit worse than regular factor 5....but doable

he's guessing about 2-3 months before i can TTC again but he has to find a new doc (high risk OB) for me and i have to get in to see them and make sure nothing else is going on

so for now...im going to try and get into shape and get my blood flowing....no daily meds unless they do find a blood clot and after they find my first blood clot not preg then ill begin meds...he doesnt want me on daily meds for the fact that i want TTC soon and once i stop the daily meds theres a waitnig period because of the risk of birth defects

This subject is so timely. I just had a appointment yesterday with a hematologist because I have strong family HX of Blood clots. I'm also in remission from Lupus which normally couples with getting blood clots. My Gyn wanted me to get medical clearance before ttc. Based on some of  the in house  blood test and physical exam yesterday he said I would have to be on some meds when I get pregnant. What are some of the things I can do to reduce my chances of getting clots? I know your not MD's but any advise would be helpful. Thanks!

I am so sorry you are going through this, but am happy to hear they know whats going on and that it is treatable!  That part is good news.  Take good care of yourself, and please keep us posted.  I am sure all will be well, and you will be looking at a BFP in just a few short months.

Good luck to you, and take good care.

when I had mine it started out as soreness in my leg / groin area and then my leg started swelling up until, a week later, it was 5 inches bigger than my other leg. It's a good thing you're getting an u/s tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you and please give an update on how it goes. Where's the pain? I'm kind of surprised that if they suspect a blood clot that they would have you wait until tomorrow for an u/s. Usually these are considered "stat" and need to be done quickly because if you do have a clot you don't want it to travel, but it sounds like you're in good care and they know what they're doing. If the pain gets worse, though, I would not wait until tomorrow....just my own humble opinion :0)

i was at the docs office for almost 3 hours trying to get to the bottom of this today...i go in for my u/s tomorrow so ill know tomorrow if i have a blood clot or not

Wow!
Well at least you have answers and a plan. My blood clot was in my leg, iliac / femoral vein to be exact. You don't want to mess around with these. Where do they think your clot is?

Good luck with everything!!!!
