Most heart conditions resolve before birth. If something were truly worrisome your doctor would speak with you and then refer you to a geneticist.

I am not sure about your heart question but maybe the baby was laying weird and it just looked like it was to the right more. If it actually is off to the side then I agree with mamaof4410 that your doctor should have explained what is going on to you. At my 20 week ultrasound my doctor sat down and explained every single measurement and picture they did and answered every question I had about this and that. My baby's stomach was barely full and the tech almost missed picking it up, which her and the doctor both said was normal, that if the baby doesn't have anything in the stomach then it won't be detected by the machine.

Good Luck!

I would call your doctor and ask him. I would think if anything was wrong majorly they would have mentioned something. In all my ultrasounds I was able to see babys stomach clearly, but I know if the babys tummy isnt full that could be hard!!!

I tried looking it up..some say that its normal not to see the babies stomach, but i dont understand why they can see the kidneys and the bladder but not the stomach. Some others say that if the stomach is empty (?) they wont be able to see it ( dont know how true that is) But it was the most common explanation. If the baby drinks the amniotic fluid and there is none left in it it will be hard to pick it up on the sono. (This came from a lady that has been a sono tech since 1979.) And as long as the amniotic fluid level is fine then there really isnt anything to worry about. Usually if the fluid is low it will show additional problems. She said when there is a true problem witht the stomach the fluid will be significantly low.

And the heart i read that if this is it, its called "situs inversus" its like a mirror image and poses no real risks. but if its something else is there are many more risks. But im not a doctor. I dont understand why they didnt explain any of this to you. Or why your doctor let you leave with no explaination.  During all of my ultrasounds im asking questions if everyhting looks ok. and my doctor goes over the pictures before he even comes in the room and looks over them again while hes talking with me. I guess every doctor is different. And i understand if this is your first pregnancy your nervous. But i would call to make another appt. or go get a second opinion, good luck and i hope your baby is healthy.
