yeah i can understand entirely where you're coming from. it's clearly a very slow labour but at 6 cm dilated and with constant contractions i'd insist on being kept in hospital. I'd claim the contractions were too much too manage for you without gas and air and that you feel the baby is coming any time soon. Because, let's face it...it could be!
My hospital said at 4cm they keep you. I'd go back and insist they keep you and if they don't want to because of the lack of progress, perhaps you can ask them to give you something to speed up the process (pitocin)
Good luck!
It's funny you should mention that becasue some contractions would bring tears to my eyes all the nurses look at me feeling so bad and the doctors just say we can't help you progress because your not full term, heres something to help you sleep. Then it knocks me out when I wake up they see my contractions have minimized and they send me home.
Becasue Im not at least 37 weeks they can do nothing to help me speed up the progress or anything. i'm 5 days away from 37 weeks. I think when the time comes that I do go into labor Ill need a c section I cant even take care of my 15 month old because Im so tired and can't walk or get up without horrible contractions. But when I lay down they subside
I would go back to the hospital and insist they keep you - Your OB kinda sounds mean...Where are you from where they won't keep you? Go in and tell them the contractions are unbearable and you want your epidural. When you get your epidural you should be able to relax and you will probably progress more quickly. I'm sorry for all the trouble you are going through!! Good luck and keep us posted... ((HUGS))
