***I meant if you had told them in the beginning, they could have helped you safely taper off the pills***
Nicole8989 is right, after you deliver they can test the baby's meconium (the first poop) and it will detect drugs all the way back to 20 weeks. You should not stop without speaking to your doctor first, you could put yourself in early labor before baby is ready, and the baby will most certainly go through withdrawals. Since you are already 38 weeks, and it's almost time for you to deliver, the baby will go through withdrawal anyway. I encourage you to please tell your doctor so that they will be prepared to give the baby all the care he/she will need after birth. If you don't tell them it is going to look so much worse than it already will because no matter what, they will know. It is very easy for them to tell something is off and if they are prepared, it will help. It's a little late to stop now, the damage is done. Please, for once, put your unborn child's safety first and tell them so that they can do all the can once the baby is born. This is so unfortunate, if you hadve told them in the beginning they could have helped you. I hope everything turns out ok, and baby is born with the least complications. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers.
Im not a dr. But i have a sister that did the same thing. If ur dr find drugs in ur system during ur pregnancy. They will test ur placenta when u deliver. Bad thing is. you dr is obligated to report drug use during pregnancy. So good chance that a child protective services will be there when u deliver. Placentas will show history of drug use. Just like a hair folical test does.
