I still gag every once in a while and I'm 25 weeks my gag reflex is soooooooo not what it used to be!! I tried to brush while keeping my mouth slightly open not too wide and not closed too much!!
I am over 14weeks and I still gag everytime I brush my teeth. Blah!
I've been nauseated my entire pregnancy, and I've been unable to brush my teeth with toothpaste since about week 10. I've tried different toothpastes, but nothing will work. I throw up everytime I use toothpaste after about 4pm... It's weird. But I've learned to use only water on my tooth brush before bed, and I brush 2 or 3 times in the morning / afternoon with toothpaste. My OB and dentist both said just using water at bedtime is fine. Good Luck.
hate to say it and i know then you have to brush your teeth and toung but i liked it in a weard way. it got my morning sickness outa the way. gag untill i got sick if i had to and gosh i had morning day and night sickness my whole pregnancy. but that is about it. it doesent bother me now at all once she was out i could brush my teeth and toung not problem.
I had the same thing and sometimes still do, the thing that really sucked with me was when I gagged it made me throw up like KM604. I would just make sure that I at about 30 min before I brushed my teeth and then it wasn't so bad, I usally wouldn't throw up then. Good luck!
Totally know what your going through! I'm going through the same thing and it *****!! I just don't put my tooth brush so far back when I'm brushing my tongue. That's when I gag!! Ugh!! good Luck!
I run very cold water on my face and hands, makes me gag less or stop the gagging.
I had the same problem. It went away once my nauseau went away which was at about 18-20 weeks or so. But the only thing I could do was brush my teeth as fast as possible and try not to breath. I would actually throw up almost everytime, so then I would have to re-brush my teeth. Just don't think about the fact that you will gag, I tried the whole mind over matter thing, LOL, and it helped a little. I also did go to my annual dental cleaning at about 4 months preggo and they cleaned my teeth. They didn't do anything else (the dentist didn't even check for cavities) but I felt better knowing that my teeth did get a good cleaning after all that.
I've acually always gagged when I brush my teeth (I have enormous tonsils!) and I've found that if I lean over when I brush or spit out the water, that it gets worse. So, I have to stand up straight, or even walk around the bathroom while I brush. That seems to make it better...maybe its subconscious or something. I hope you feel better!
