Announcing your pregnancy too soon?

How long did you wait to tell your immediate family that you were expecting. I will be 7 weeks on NYE and will not see a dr until 8 weeks. Is that too soon to tell my immediate family as in my parents and siblings?

I told my mom 30 minutes after I took my pregnancy test, and she told everyone else for me. (I was 5 weeks at the time) It's whatever you're comfortable with doing. Some wait till after the first trimester when risk of miscarriage is lower, and others don't.

@price family, sorry to hear that. Have you had problems in the past with miscarriages? I haven't had a child in 10 yrs so I don't really know what kind of problems I could have had, if I had been trying.i got pregnant 1st cycle after  iud removal.

I only want to tell our mothers and would tell them sooner than 7 wks  if time were to permit for them to be at the same place at the same time.

Depends on your relationships and comfort level I guess. We are waiting till end of first trimester, partly because we've had trouble confirming at home and want everything checked out by a doctor first, and partly bc of a loss last year. A couple close friends and the moms know something's up but we are not discussing it further until after my doctor's appt next week.

I told everyone when I found out with my first pregnancy, and I went on to miscarry. With my second pregnancy, I told my mother, mother-in-law, grandparents, and sister-in-law (only to get the number to her OBGYN, as I was seeing a GYN). I asked them to not tell until after I was out of the first trimester, but by the end of the day...everyone knew. My hubby worked at walmart at the time, and I didn't tell anyone he worked with, but somehow everyone found out. The girl at the OB's office to confirmed my pregnancy witht he urine test also worked with my Husband, so...I was a little ticked that she violated my patient's rights.

I'm thinking I would want them to know even if I did miscarry.i would want their support.  But then, I'm not so sure how long they could keep their mouths shut. I dnt want anyone else knowing until 2nd trimester. I really wanted it to be a holiday too. The closest holiday afterwards would be valentines day. guess I could do that.

i told my mother right after 10 mins of my test. but then i told my family after 4 wks and 2 days. but ended up with MC at 8wks. my family kept telling me not to tell anyone. but i was really excited and wanted to share my happiness with everyone. unfortunately it did not happen. :). but i learnt one thing next time if i got pregnant i will be telling after atleast 14wks. because if i have MC before that i won't have to go through embarrassment and pain.

I always call my mom, grandmother and brothers when I get a BFP and have had one miscarriage and their support really helped me, I don't regret telling them it made them understanding of why I didn't want to talk or even leave my house for two weeks.

If I get my BFP this week or beg of next I plan on telling my immediate family at Christmas ( I will have to come up with a creative way to tell them) and I will ask them to refrain from telling anyone or facebooking until after i make it public knowledge at 12 weeks ( I know this will be hard for my mom but it would be my request)

We told our close friends and family right away. If something had happened to the pregnancy, I knew I would need the support and not be able to carry around that kind of hurt in silence. I think it just depends on your personality. I am an emotional person. At least I know myself right? And I'm sure you know yourself to. Go with what you feel. There are no rules.

Plus everyone was wondering why I wasn't drinking. Lol. Good luck! Tell whoever you want when u want! Congrats

With my first 2 pregnancies we told family in the second month, but I miscarriage twinsat 5 months with the second pregnancy. Then my third we waited until second trimester because we were scared of miscarriage again. But that baby was fine. Now with my fourth we told everyone right away. I have learned miscarriage can happen anytime so what's the point of not sharing the joy ? :-D

I would not wait to tell my family something so amazing! I had a tubal pregnancy but I told my family as soon as we found out we were pregnant. You need their support through the good and the bad. I also have a problem keeping secrets from my family. We have a very open relationship and keeping something so exciting from them was just not a possibility. When we found out our baby was in my tube and we would not be able to have it, their support and understanding was a big part of why I am able to keep going today! Tell them when you are comfortable.

I think it's upto you, no 2 people are the same so do what feels right.

We've always told our family & very closest friends pretty much within the first week of finding out.
We are now 6 weeks pregnant & are planning on telling all on Christmas day ;)
Remember ther is no right or wrong, do what feels right!

Oh & congrats xx

I took the hpt at like 730am last Wednesday and when it said positive my boyfriend woke my mom up and sat beside her while I sat far away and he told her. Got the confirmation that day at the health dept. I'm 6 weeks and 2 days today. Our first baby. We didn't wait because we thought it would be best to let them know.

This is my 2nd Pregnancy and I found out at 7 weeks, my Mom knew first because I was so scared and she was right outside the bathroom door as I took the test. The only people who knew right away were my hubby and his Mom. I didn't feel comfortable telling anyone else at the at that point. I did begin to tell other close family members at around 12 weeks. Now I'm 16 weeks and all my family and close friends know. I still haunt made a formal announcement via Facebook or anything. Really it's whenever you are comfortable telling everyone, there is no rule about it. I've onot ever hears to wait until 12 weeks to make sure everything is going well and you aren't going to miscarry. Good luck I hope all is well:)
