Any ideas? Long...

As some of you know, i'm currently concerned about another ectopic pregnancy. I only started turning pregnancy tests positive on tuesday. And these were the first result early result tests. The lines on both tests were faint. The next day i did two clearblue early tests, and the lines were slightly more apparent, but still faint. Last night i went to hospital and dr asked me to do a urine sample. Totally didn't need a wee and had to down loads of my son's coca cola just to squeeze a bit of pee out. Hospital urine test came up negative. I immediately started worrying that this was another ectopic because i had this exact same situation with tests with my last ectopic. Dr knew this history and told me to go to the early pregnancy unit on monday and try to get some blood tests done. It was sixteen days after sex when the hospital test came up negative. Firstly, why haven't i had blood tests when there's clearly doubt at the hospital that i'm pregnant and secondly what the hell could be going on here other than ectopic? Although i have had some pain, nothing like i had with the previous ectopic and i have had no bleeding whatsoever and i bled like mad last time. Sorry for going on, but this is all really doing my head in:(

I rang the nhs advice line and managed to talk to health advisors, who help when you really don't know where else to turn. They said to go back to a and e today and be more forceful about a blood hcg or a scan. I can't be more assertive than I have been and have decided that tomorrow when I go to the early pregnancy unit I'm gonna refuse to leave until they properly investigate as it's quite possible they've missed something important here.

Right now i feel like making a complaint. I had to argue with the hospital for two weeks that i was having an ectopic last time. I know for a fact i should have had blood hcgs done - yet i've been repeatedly refused this time.

my sisters in leeds, but I'm in australia, here we go to our gp first and he can organise the first blood tests, then we either go thru the public hospital system or go private, I sometimes see my gp up until 19 wks then swap over to public, but you can see your gp for shared care with a couple of hospital visits  right up until 40 wks

My dr is hopeless. All he offered me was the same urine test at hospital. I'm in the uk and in my hospital no positive urine test seems to equal no blood test. Dangerous, i know, because ectopics don't always show on urine tests.

what about your regular doctor, cant he oprganise the blood tests? I would have thought that they would have been more on to it considering that you have had one before

Thanks, i have been requesting hcg blood tests but i've been refused. I think it's procedure not to do one until the hospital get a positive urine test. The dr did believe me, he said so. But, still wouldn't do a blood test. He's given me two tests. I might take one today and definitely in the morning because i don't wanna go to the early pregnancy unit tomorrow to have the same thing happen. I gotta know i'm turning THEIR tests positive first.

if your just pregnant that would explain the light positive lines, doing the test later on in the day/night it would be very possible for it to be neg as the hcg wouldnt be as strong in your wee thats why you would get the negative, I would get another one myself and redo the test in the morning using your first wee and see if its gotten any stronger, I would also be knocking at my doctors door on the monday and having my hcg levels checked over the week to see if they're rising as they should, good luck
