I was told that it was fien and so do two of my friends who are hairdressers. I know they aren't drs but I figure they would have some idea. I had mine coloured at the hairdresser and I did tell her I was pregnant just in case. She told me I had nothing to worry about.

when my mom was preg with us they said it was ok...now i hear it isnt.   My hair stylest says if you wait until your 2nd trimester and do foils or a cap...(as long as it doesnt touch your scalp) then it is fine.

It's fine to get your hair dyed while you are pregnant just go to a salon since your hormones can cause your hair to change colors. The dye they use on pregnant women isn't as harsh and they wont put it on your scalp. You should always ask your doctor if it is okay just to make sure but i've never heard of it harming the baby.

Its just fine, I wouldn't use a home dye, go to the salon and have professional do it they will use less chemicals.

Well, I would definitely ask your doctor. I am sure there are doctors who say not to and doctors who say it's okay.

I was told something different.  My midwife colored and high-lightened her hair the entire time she was pregnant with her 2 children.  She told me it was OK.  She said, and I agree, that there are much worse things we need to concentrate on ... like making sure you wash your veggies before you eat them.  Your self confidence and happiness during pregnancy is healthy for the baby.  We take a risk every day we go out and breath the air that surrounds us... full of all kinds of bad stuff.  I would stick with the less harsh dye like Loreal Preference .... it's a gel solution.  I've dyed my hair and my baby is doing great.  =)  I do know that we need to always put the safety of our babies FIRST!!  But I also know that every time I look in that mirror and see those pesky grays looking back at me.. I kinda get a little depressed.. that's just me personally though of course.  I do not think that my midwife would tell me that if it were not OK.  I am high risk.  Maybe your local salon can recommend a safe solution for us pregnant ladies.

Ok now I am freaking out!! My doctor said for me to wait until the 2nd trimester. I knew I should've dyed my hair before I got pregnant!! My roots are ridiculous!! Now I am wondering if I should wait until after the babyis born??? That's in June.....I did read that henna is safe, I guess I'll try that.

I was watching Ten Years Younger once and there was a pregnant woman on the show, she was at least 7 months pregnant. She got her hair dyed, but the stylist was really careful not to get it on her scalp. But if it can cause harm, I would probably wait until after your pregnancy.

Doctor suggests that you should not dye your hair during pregnancy. Since it contains chemicals it might affect the growth of the baby. I am not sure if you can do it 5th month. But its always safe to wait until you deliver. You can use natural sources to color you hair. Like Henna. Women(also men) in India use it color and condition their hair. I
