Can starting to smoke cigarettes make your period come later?

I quit smoking in September, but within the last couple of weeks have started to smoke again.  I am on birth control.  Sometimes I miss a pill (we use condoms too) but when I remember to take every one, I can be sure that I will get my period by Monday morning.  I took every single pill this month and have not gotten my period.  I am a little worried because I can usually feel that I am getting it the day before it comes and I don't feel anything.  Can smoking cigarettes be the reason?  Also, is it too early to get a pregnancy test?

Well I bought the Answer test which had to testers in it.  I did one last night and this morning and they were both negative, but I still haven't gotten my period.  I'll probably wait a few more days and if I don't get it I'll test again.

You may want to still use first morning urine. It will contain more of the hcg hormone...

Thanks so much for your help.  It was due yesterday so I will take a test tonight and see how it goes.

I can't imagine why smoking cigarettes would have anything to do with your period being delayed.  If AF was due yesterday, you can take a test now.  Keep us posted.

Are you supposed to come on your period this monday past or next monday? I am not really sure if cigarettes can stop you from getting a period. Someetimes when you are on bc it can cause you to miss a period. i know that it did for me especially when i was getting off of the bc. wait until your period is due, and then if you don't get it call your doctor and they should be able to give you answers that are better than mine. oh and please dont stress yourself. i know easier said than done
