Dates

I was what I thought 12 weeks pregnant at my first scan and had an estimated due date of 6th June 2011. My scan however said I am 12 weeks + 1 day and changed my due date to 5th June.

I have my anomly scan in a couple of weeks, will my due date change again then?

Ultrasounds measure the size of the baby and based on those determine the age of the baby. Yours matches your LMP, which is what you want to see. In the first trimester dating is the most accurate, as babies grow at the same rate. After this, it can become less accurate as babies will grow at their own rate.

I bet he does!
Still in two minds about finding out sex of baby, I want to but at the same time think it'll be a nice surprise when s/he's born. Did you find out with your first one? Will you be finding out this time?

Thanks!
I'm actually now 17 weeks pregnant. Been doing some reading and just wondered why my date changed. I have another scan early in the new year, can't wait!

Congrats on your pregnancy too! How's it been so far?

I am also 12 weeks. So far I've had 3 ultrasounds, all saying I was a day further along than my lmp. But my doc said they just keep the lmp as a due date as long as the dates n measurements line up pretty close. He also said that ultrasounds can sometimes be a week or 2 off so they usually go by lmp. That is a little strange that they changed ur due date up 1 day. But I guess every doctor does things a little different. Congrats, enjoy ur pregnancy!

I was a bit surprised too. How is it worked out? Is it by the age of the fetus (I think they can measure growth etc)

More than likely no they would not change it again. I'm surprised they changed it at all. One day is not a big deal, and usually doctors will not change it unless the dates are off by 1-2 weeks or more.
