Designer hospital gowns

Ok, so I was watching Bringing home baby on TLC like most pregnant women do (dont lie ladies lol), and a girl on there had brought her own hospital gown that she got offline.. as anyone else heard of this? I found some links online but, I dont want to spend $50 or more on a gown I have to wash everyday, because be honest shows going to buy more than 1?

I’ve had 1 delivery already I know what you mean by the blood. I just thought it was a unique idea, plus she knew she was going to be on TV too so that probably helped out too. I like the idea of picking out fabric and making your own that’s good. But to be honest there’s no way I would buy some of these... I mean the cheapest I saw for a designer was $119.... Umm excuse me... aint no way!

i wouldn't bother with this...i stained a couple hospital gowns with blood while i was in the hospital after i had my daughter..i packed my own pants/shorts but never wore them. would have ruined them. don't buy things...its such a waste. if you must wear your own clothes i highly suggest dark colored pants and shorts...like navy blue/black. you WILL bleed...despite the huge pads they give you.
i can't fathom spending money on something that petty. your not gonna look good in the hospital no matter what you do.
i had huge swollen hands and feet and dark bags under my eyes. a pretty hospital gown would not have made a difference. don't waste your money. spend that on something else.

I didn't see the episode but I have desired my own gown since I gave birth 2 years ago. I think the online prices are retarded to be perfectly honest. I'm not going to spend $50 dollars on a gown and then another $20 on shipping. A good idea my mom gave me was to go to the fabric store, find a pattern and have my friend (who is a seamstress) do it. That way I'm only buying fabric which I myself get to pick out. I love the idea that my first pictures with my daughter is going to be in something I can remember and cherish later.

From experience I can say that when I'm in labor I could give a rats behind WHAT i'm wearing or what I look like for that matter!

I saw that episode and she did have a cute one! hehe the nurse almost didn't let her wear it but she said she already called and they said it was ok or something!!
I wouldn't spend any money on them. When you think about it...you'll only spend a few hours in it anyway while you are in labour..and then the other ladies are right...it'll probably get all gross and then you'll have to deal with it. Then you'll want some comfy jammies on afterward! I wouldn't waste the cash...buy your baby a couple cute things with that $50! Or yourself a message...that'll be way more worth it!

Having given birth 5 times already...I wear the gown for the actual birth...then change into my own jammies....nothing fancy...just a pair of cotton sleep pants and a tshirt.  I wouldn't bother with expensive jammies or gowns...they'll probably get blood stains anyway. I'd rather wear the hospital gown and let THEM worry about the stains later on.

Having spent 105 days inthe hosptial on bedrest with my first - pj's from any store will do - obviously no pants or shorts - but gowns work once the little one is born - before that you will probably ruin anything else with all the blood, sweat and tears....
