How painful is the epidural

Mine was not bad, they had to try a few times but thats because my spine is a little crooked. I felt a strong pinch pressure and that was it. Though mine only took on my left side but again crooked spine. If I ever have another child I won't get another one but each person is different.

To me it wasn't painful at all, but I also have a high pain tolerance.

Of course every experience will be different, but for me the only thing I felt (other than the intense pressure of the baby because they made me wait until thelast ppossible moment to get the epidural) was the first poke of numbing medicating and my husband said that he poked me three different times. I also had the iv pain meds about 15 minutes before so that may have had something to do with it, but the iv meds did nothing for me except make me feel drunk and sleepy.

Believe me when you're in labor pain you won't even feel the epidural, mine went by so fast. The only thing I hated was that I couldn't hold hubbys hand :( but other wise It helped a lot.

This is crazy. Reading your comments on your post I just got upset. My epidural hurt tremendously. That was May 2014. Which is most likely why I am still in pain until this day. I told my mom and boyfriend they did my epidural wrong. I'm having twins and I will not be going to the same hospital as before because I suspected that and uhh ladies just confirmed it. Thanks ladies!

Mine didn't hurt at all, mostly because the contractions were so painful I didn't notice anything else.

Didn't hurt me at all. Just a different feeling than I've ever felt before and the part that freaked me out was hearing it go through my spine. Kind of weird. Lol.

It didnt hurt me but like everyone says it just depends and its better to get it sooner then waiting cause thats what i did and my contractions got worse really worse and it was hard for me to stay still

Mine wasn't bad, I was having such bad contractions the hardest part was staying still. It was a slightly painful pinch type feeling then some discomfort as she tried to find the right spot, but overall not too bad.

Mine didn't hurt. It depends.  I did feel a burning sensation  as the needle went in but it was very faint

Depends... they tried givin it to me when i was having contractions... i was poked 5 times.
