Gestational Sac normal but low HCG

Has anyone experienced the same thing? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

First day of last period Sept 14. Ovulated around 25th to 27th (ovulation test) Puts me around 6 weeks.
Last Tuesday I started spotting dark brown. Wed morning I went to the hosptal as the bleeding changed to dark red.
The doctor said my cervix was still closed.  My HCG was only 136 The transvagional ultrasound revealed:

"Gestational Sac Diameter 2mm - without cardiac activity identified may represent early normal pregnancy, indetminate. Uterus and ovaries are otherwise normal"

That night I passed a small blood clot. But no cramps.  I went for another HCG on Friday and it only rose to 156, and the Nurse told me to prepare for a miscarriage. I had another one on today (Sun), but the lab wont give me the results. I'm still bleeding, cramps are minimal however when I move around I get really hot and sick to my stomach.

From everything I have read the Gestational Sac doesnt appear to till your HCG is over 1,000 so how can the ultrasound show the sac with HCG being only 136?

I was on the pill for 16 years and got pregnant only after 2 months. Not sure if this plays a part in anything.

Any thoughts or advice?

Just talked to the doctor, blood tests from yesterday show my levels only went up to 170.
They are ordering another ultrasound this week to check the progress. Will keep everyone updated.

As far as what the doctors have told me.. the HCG numbers cannot be relied upon too much...
Every person is different and how their bodies react or produce HCG is different....

My doctor did not even let me do a beta HCG test, the one we do after 48 hours to make sure HCG is doubling.. he said, its not needed to waste time and money over consecutive betas :)

More importance is given to the Ultrasound report.. if the sac is there.. its there.. no matter if it is surprising to see it with the hcg number they told you.. I would not break my head on it too much..
So many women are examples, who never even had positive urine test, because their hcg JUST would not rise, but had healthy babies!

Just relax and that will benefit the baby as well! Repeat the U/s in  1 week.. and rest , rest , rest!!
Good Luck!

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this! To me it does sound like a miscarriage since your hcg didn't double but rose slightly, plus the bleeding. I would request another ultrasound and more blood work to be safe. I have also heard you can not see anything on the ultrasound until 1,000 so I am not sure about how the sac is being seen, unless your hcg was at 1,000 at one point and is now decreasing. I would ask your doctor about that. Good luck with everything, I know how hard it can be.
