Girl OB or Guy OB..which do u prefer?

OK, so I recently found out I was pregnant, I am in the process of deciding on a dr....the GYN I see for my yearly is on the air force base, and they dont do OB stuff here.  With my first 2 children, I had female OB's....I live in a diff state now, and need a new OB.....the ones my friends are trying to refer me to are all men.....I am just so torn on it.  Does a man OB understand everything I am going through???  Just some stories and opnions would be great...I am not completely against a guy DR, ....i just cant get over the fact that a man might be "checkin out my stuff", lol

I LOVE my doctor.  He is male.  He has been my only doctor and he has been my doctor since I was 15.  He has delivered all 5 of my children.  He is very gentle and compassionate also and he really listens to me and what my concerns are.  But for so many, it is just a personal preference.  I know a lot of women that don't want a male doctor.  My doctor is nothing but professional.  I trust him with my life.  He's like family!! LOL!

I have one of the best Dr.s in the world and it's a male. He is very gentle and compasionate......VERY handsome ;) I have had women Gyno's in the past and even with small hands, they were ruff. They weren't very compasionate at all. They thought they knew how I felt because they were a woman too. My Ob/Gyn tries to understand and listens to my concerns....This is my second baby with this Dr. and my first two were also delivered by men. If you live in Dallas/Ft Worth Texas, I highly reccomend him to anyone.

I have a male doctor.  He is very gentle..and he always shows his concern for me.  Try out a male and see what you think.  I have yet to know or hear of a wonderful female ob/gyn!   Good luck and take care!

I've had good and bad of both.  It all depends on the individual and if they make you comfortable

i had a female midwife at first and she was horrible.  Now i have a male doctor and he is great. i never thought i would ever have a male doctor but after you get pregnant, you realize the world will see your goods and it does not matter if they are male or female. think of the different people in the delivery room!

I've had both men and women. During internal pelvic exams, men are always more gentle! The women always made me feel like I was in pain and labor after they got through!!!

Men won't completely understand what you are going through on a personal level as they've never actually *been* pregnant, but they do have a lot of knowledge and training.

Try a man doc out and see how you like it! If you don't end up liking it, just switch to someone else... I don't think we realize that this is OUR pregnancy and OUR time and OUR health and that WE GET TO CHOOSE so if you end up not liking Man Doc, get a Female Doc! LOL! Either is just as good as the other.

this is my first pregnancy as well by my gyno (who's also an ob) has always been a woman. she's been wonderful and i don't think i'd ever go to a guy. i would think a woman could understand better then man considering she may have or is going through what we are going through....but that's my opinion. i'm sure there are awesome male ob's out there.
