HG

Yesterday I went to the ER due to being severely sick from nausea and vomiting. I was constantly weak and was having trouble driving and basically functioning. All I would ever hear from my midwife was give it a few days you'll be fine, I gave it 10 weeks because it started when I was 4 weeks and am now 14. Well last night I got diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. I needed 3 bags of fluid, 1bag of potassium chloride, and they literally told me they had to overdose me on zofran because I was so nauseous. They said it is a safe medicine and not to worry about the amount they gave me. Anyone else have this? If so, how are you coping? I'm excited to see if the meds I got can help me function.

I had it really bad I was in the hospital every other day getting fluids and meds. I tell you those suppositories do wonders! They were the only thing that helped me through my pregnancy, even though it's nasty lol

I wish they prescribed my oral phenegran, I'm not about to go anywhere near those supositories! But for now Zofran is helping, not 100% but at least after 10 weeks I can eat a real meal.

Sounds like you need a new midwife. Geesh. Idk why she'd be mad because you saved by your life and your precious baby's life. My goodness...I wouldn't be so kind to her after my hospital visit. She would've gotten a call saying You're FIRED!! I'm glad you got help...hopefully everything goes well for you. Good luck hun!!!

I got dissolving zofran and phenegran in suppository form but I don't know if I'm desperate enough for the suppositories. I did see my midwife today who scolded me for going to the ER instead of calling her. I told her I did call her and she said I'll be fine. Then she told me I wasn't clear enough about how bad it was. I guess calling in tears isn't enough. =[

Did u get the 2 meds I told u about? One that dissolves in your mouth and another to make you drowsy? Both for nausea and vomiting. . They did wonders for me! I would cry bcuz I could not even take care of my boys without becoming so sick!  I'm 16 weeks and still need them my all day sickness hasn't lessened any yet :/

Yea I was in the hospital once a week for a month straight for fluids and meds because I was so sick! It finally subsided around week 17, I was put on bedrest from weeks 11-17 and it was terrible. Along with anti nausea meds my midwife suggested 50mg of vitamin B6 with a half tablet of regular Unisom nightly before bed and it helped wonders!! And it's all safe for pregnancy too! Hopefully you can get it under control and stop feeling so crummy, I know how it feels! I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow and the symptoms haven't come back yet and I'm hoping it stays that way! Good luck momma :)
