Half a headache??

I get migraines about twice a year, but since I've been pregnant I've already had three. Well last night I had a headache set in and it just came out of nowhere. I woke up today and it had turned into a migraine, but it's only on one side. It hurts from the base of my neck all the way up and over to my face on the right side only. I keep having to shut my right eye because the light hurts it and I'm seeing spots only out of my right eye.

What the heck is this? Has anyone ever had half a headache???

Migraines and headaches are so weird! And it stinks you have to deal with them during pregnancy. I hope you at least got some relief from it!
It was so weird, tonight hubby and I went out to dinner, and right in the middle of dinner my right eye started to go blurry and I felt a little hot and my vision starting going in my right eye. But this time, I did NOT have a headache. I didn't understand it. It took about 2 minutes for it to go back to normal...it freaks me out and I am going to e-mail my midwife about this incident. It's just weird how it happened. It hasn't happened in months! But usually I get the headache first, then the blurriness. strange.

I'm not trying to scare you, but I do think that you should get this checked out by your doctor or have him refer you to a neurologist.  You could have a tumor pushing on your optic nerve.  My mother had this happen last October.  Good luck!

I don't get migraines but I do get headaches. Sometimes I get headaches right behind my eyes, usually only one eye. Part of it is probably because your eyesight is changing. Everyone reacts differently to symptoms. Sorry you've having migraines, though, they're no fun!

I think it is normal to have one sided headaches and or migraines. Narcotics on their own have been proven not to help with headaches and migraines so it is weird that gave you that. My OB gave me Butalbital, it has some caffeine in it so you would have to watch your intake but it works great, completely knocks the migraine OUT. Even though it has caffeine it does make me a little sleepy but as long as I keep going and push through the sleepiness I am fine. I would ask your OB about it.

Thanks it just freaked me out because I've never had it just on one side. I guess I should be happy that it's not my whole head so I can half function ;-)

I talked to my regular doc and told me to take a vicodin. I took a half and it knocked it back to just a really bad headache. I'll take the other half after I finish up with work here in about an hour.

I've had some pretty bad headaches and when they were migraines...I would usually just get it on one side. I thought that was pretty common to happen like that...or maybe I just thought it was! And usually it would be on my right side. My vision would go completely gray or blurry on that side and it would take several minutes until I could see out of that eye again. It's scary. I keep meaning to go to the doc about it, but it only happens like that several times in a year. Usually when I'm pregnant, once in a while my headaches last for 2 days straight, even if I take tylenol. The only thing that gets rid of bad headaches for me is excedrin, and I know you are not suppose to take it during pregnancy. With my son I had a terrible headache for 2 or 3 days, to the point of almost vomitting and my eye going blurry, and sensitive to noise and light, I had to take one excedrin and thankfully it went away in 30 min! Talk to your doc about it and see what they say. They can probably prescribe something that is safe during pregnancy. I just hate going to the doctors, so that's probably why I keep putting it off.
